Owner description: Ojo de Agua is a Natural Spring swimming hole where you can swim and relax in clear, pure, medicinal and healthy fresh water of volcanic origin. This is a place to enjoy the environment surrounded by Nature with lots of birds, butterflies, squirrels, iguanas, and many trees all around. While you are here you can also have meals, cocktails or just coconut water, and you can have a banana tour or ride a horse. Welcome.

We came here on a cloudy afternoon. The water wasn't warm at all, but was still very refreshing. It is shallow enough in much of the pool for kids. The drinks are also very good, and they will prepare fresh coconut juice in front of you. All in all it was a nice place to spend an afternoon, but wasn't as unique as I expected.

I do not recommend bathing in the lake Cocubolca but Oja de Agua is very good with clean water. Try to visit in late afternoon with fewer visitors and walk back to your hotel in Playa San Dominga!

Nice get away from the heat! Clean, cool, fresh water.
2$ entrance fee that is worth it. Drinks and souvenirs for sale on premises. It is a 35 min walk from Playa Santo Domingo.

After a day-hike up and down the still-active Volcan Concepcion in the searing heat, plus a visit to a nearby little-known petroglyph site, nothing beats the feeling of cooling off in some natural pool hidden in the jungle. Located at the narrow isthmus between Mt Concepcion and Mt Madeira, the Ojo de Agua beckons to locals and tourists alike with its natural beauty, foliage and cool freshwater spring. The naturally-formed swimming hole has been left in its original state, save for the concrete sides (to prevent erosion) and a row of green plastic lounge chairs around the rim. The water is crystal clear, cool and invigorating. You can just let your stress melt away. Coupled with an on-site restaurant, plus an outdoor wet bar that serves cold beer and the most delicious Coconut Rum, it is no wonder that the place is crowded. To be fair, other than the crowds, the other minor negative issue relates to the dinginess of their changing stalls. Recommended. Grade A-minus.

Imagine the heat Nicaragua can bring and something you can cool off in which is beautiful as well. That is Ojo de Agua.
