Las Kabanas consists of a number of cabins which are situated on a pathway going down to the beach - I minute walk. They are really pretty funky and built out of bricks and pebbles. The rooms are fairly spacious and simply but nicely decorated. Whilst the shower was tepid it was the best one we had whilst in Nicaragua. The cabins were also spotlessly clean and very airy. Each cabin has its own terrace with chairs, tables and a hammock - lovely for relaxing.
Whilst Las Kabanas has no restaurant there is a hotel next door and another couple down the road which offer breakfasts, lunch and dinner. There is also a shop over the road where you can buy basis provisions.
Whilst the beach is OK whilst we found there to be a lot of greenflies - and whilst they didn't bite they were rather annoying. I would recommend do the 25 minute walk to the Olo's de Agua where you can swim and relax by a lovely natural water pool.
We had a lovely relaxing stay in Santo Domingo and would thorughly recommend it if you want peace and quiet.
