Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou Guided Day Tour...
Reviewed April 6, 2014

A guide here is essential and you will learn so much interesting history and architecture.
Make sure to take out a 50Dh note when you're standing on the balcony overlooking the courtyard.
Unfortunately, when we visited many of the quarters were closed for restoration, however they should be open again in 3 months.

This was a great stop on our tour. I really like the restoration effort ging on here. Our guide explained all in great detail and it was a great stop on the way to the moves studio.

It's a maze, small and narrow inside! It's really confusing because there's only one entrance for the whole building. Don't have to pay 20 dirham per person to get in, recommended to just take pictures from the outside!!

Although it has been renstructured, it looks like A fairyland, As you can imagine, a town like "the thousand and one nights". It's beatiful like Shebam hadramout (Yemen), or 'i Sassi' di Matera. You don't need a guide, just if you want history information, otherwise you can visit the Kasbah by yourself

We visited as part of an option tour with Gate1. 4X4 vehicles drove us off the main road thorough some of the most beautiful landscape we saw in Morocco. The Kasbah while still much in ruins does have some spectacular rooms so definitely worth the visit. The usual 10 dh (app $1) to visit. Along the route we stopped at the home of a Berber family for home made Moroccan bread and home pressed olive oil. Absolutely delicious.
