This is a real Kasbah and interesting to see just because it is the real deal. You do have to climb and watch your head but other than walls and architecture, there isn’t much more to see, you don’t need a guide and there are local artists making art for purchase throughout the Kasbah. There is a charge and you do get pressed to hire a guide but we declined.

“Personally this is the Real Thing rather visit than some boring film studios”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

This place seems to get some mixed reviews. But maybe a few pictures (see below) taken close to closing time when the golden evening sun lights up interesting features and washes the city's rooftops with a magical light - which you would not see in the glare or deep shadows at mid day, THEN Kevan Y might have found it less boring. If you go with a friend, not a crowd, so you can stop and move on at your own pace, and you are only a mere 78 like me, then decrepitude would not affect your judgement. Historic cities like Ouarzazate are often best appreciated from the window grilles high up in as lovely an old Kasbah as Touarirt. Go inside and be amazed.

“Another Kasbar Ruin”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Of course the architecture is interesting, but this is a labyrinth like most Kasbar ruins in Morocco. So, if you are a elderly traveler like me, it's probably not worth climbing and head ducking your way through here. Save you knees, hips and/or other arthritic body parts for another day's adventure in Morocco!

“Huge con, don't go.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

What can I say, If you are staying locally you will probably visit because there is little to do after the film studios have been exhausted. My advice is that you go to take some exterior shots and to walk round about. It's 20D to get in and more if you choose to take a guide. You may expect some replicas of what may have been there in its past rather than a plethora of empty rooms, you might think that most of the doors are not nailed up, that the building had not been badly wired up throughout and even plumbed for modern loos before removing them for the tourists? If these weren't worries did you expect the end of your tour to be concluded in a huge carpet shop? I personally felt it was a rip off and not worth the money.

“Very interesting visit.”

It is a beautiful kasbah and historic site to visit, which gives an idea about the lifestyle of wealthy and big families a long time ago.
