Perfection, pure pure perfection!
We stayed here March 2007 & it cost 550 d (£33) per person including breakfast & a 3 to 5 course dinner.
Considering we only picked this place because we had gone for budget accommodation for a few days and just wanted something nice so we picked the first we saw in "The Rough Guide" - we sure landed on our feet! This place is probably one of my all time favourites! It is like a tiny bit of paradise.
The owners were kind enough to pick us up in Erfoud. Be aware of the touts - this was the only place in the whole of Morocco where they actually blatantly lied to get us to come with them by claiming they were sent by the hotel. The setting, it appears like the oasis it is out of the desert after having left the main road & driving on a dirt track. The rooms are in a long row of, sort of like cabins & our pictures just can't make justice to how fantastic the room was.
Just keep in mind that the generator goes offline in the middle of the day so do anything you need electricity or water for in the morning or afternoon.
The pool area is just lovely, sitting there listening to the birds sing & the wind in the trees was magic.
There is a fab outdoor area to eat breakfast or lunch at however there is also a lovely indoor area for evening dinner as it can get quite cold at night.
That leads me to the food. It was easily the best we had in Morocco. Every bit of it was prepared to perfection, the service was immaculate & friendly. We looked forward to every single meal.
& then the best bit of all. Knowing nothing about this place we had booked a trip into the desert with an overnight stay. It was 750 per person which was more expensive than others according to the guidebook. As we stayed an extra night we got it for 600 but I must say it was worth every penny! At 3pm we got taken in a 4x4 on a ride to the dunes. After having experienced that - I would even more highly recommend the camel ride. Just at the side of the lake we got on our camels. We were glad they had "tourist seats" with a handle! We got taken on a 3 hour ride amongst the dunes & it was truly magic. At one point we got off and walked around the dunes - we were totally alone. At a later point, having left the high dunes behind, the guide stopped, got a blanket for us to sit on top of a dune to watch the sun go down. It was breathtaking. We then got taken to our camp which was something like from "1001 nights". It was fantastic, the food was prepared by a chef from the hotel & was as amazing as ever. The tent had a proper bed with lots of blankets & heat lamps inside. The camp even had a flushing toilet! It was just magic & worth every penny!
