One of the best trips of my life. I've been to many different countries but not many like Morocco. Its culture is very different to any I have experienced before. Its architecture is unusual and mystic and its people are kind and endearing. If you have traveled to somewhere similar such as Thailand etc. you will know a similar situation but if you haven't, there will be a lot of people approaching you to look at their stall when you travel out of the Riad. They may seem intimidating but will never be aggressive or threatening in any way. We never had anything stolen from us and never felt like we needed to worry. I lost many things along the way and was always returned to me! The people are very honest and friendly and passionate about making you feel at home. The views we saw were amazing, with a wide range of Architecture, History, Deserts, Mountains and Oasis'. It was one of the most dramatic ranges of landscape I have seen. The pool area was amazing and the rooms fit the mood of the area very well. The food was very good with breakfast consisting of pastrys and bread mostly and evening meals consisting mostly of Tagines and some of the nicest salads I have had! Which you will have to get used to if you travel to Morocco! But everywhere caters to the western world (which I find unfortunate but good to some!).
Overall a great place and such an interesting country, If you're looking for a relaxing adventure a bit different to your usual spot, come here!

We found the Riad Ali a great base to experience the Sahara Desert. The food was great and all the staff assisted in making our trip so enjoyable. We did have an issue with our room at first but as soon as we mentioned this to the staff it was fixed. We we amazed at the quick response based in the desert. I would recomend this riad to all my friends

Room Tip: Ask for one of the new rooms at the back

This Riad is 5+. The owners are very attentive. The rooms are basic but very comfortable. The bathrooms are good size (compared to other riads).
Riad Ali has probably the most priviliged location in Merzouga. You step out the door and you are walking in sand. The views from the terrasse are spectacular.
The food is basic marrocon, but very solid and good.
A greet place to relax next to the swimming pool and wonder off into the dunes at sunset or sunrise.

Ali Yakoubi the owner and is wife are lovely hosts.

Highly recommended for people who appreciate the silence, a spiritual experience.
Hopefully not to many noisy tourists willl ever end up there.
Enjoy the silence, the care of the personnel.
As all the riads, there are minor flaws. Too few electrical plugs if you travel like we do with half a dozen of chargers (camera, smartphone, PC).

Room Tip: There are rooms with single and double beds. Make sure you ask for the one you want.

This is a really nice place to stay when visiting Merzouga due to its location right by the dunes and the warm hospitality of the staff. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed with nice large bathrooms (with ample hot water) and just a few steps away from the pool. There are many comfortable places to just hang out, whether around the pool, on the veranda, or on the upper terrace which overlooks the town and the dunes. In fact, we had a nice welcome tea and cookies up on the terrace as the sun set. Breakfast is included and is plentiful (various breads, yogurts, great fig preserves) and you can also have them prepare dinner (extra.) Our dinner was a wonderful spread of vegetable and kefta & egg tagines, with a delicious flan topped with caramel sauce for dessert. The staff can also arrange for a sunrise camel ride or other excursions although the dunes are so close, it's easy to take in the sunrise on your own. Overall, a great place to stay made even better by the hospitality and service of the smiling staff.

Great place. It is located right by the dunes, with a high roofdeck where you can take tea and breakfast in nice weather and get a great view of the dunes. Nice courtyard pool too -- it was far too cold to swim but it would be great in warmer weather. The rooms were fairly big, with their own heaters, and big bathrooms with a good supply of hot water. Dinner is not included in the price and its a fixed price per person (we paid 120 dirhams each for three courses and tea). Breakfast was your typical variety of Moroccan breads with butter, cheese, and jams, but it was really good. Very nice staff, very clean. I'd absolutely return.

We stayed here overnight before embarking on a camel trek across the desert. We arrived at night and were impressed with the spaciousness of the riad's garden and rooms, and we had a great meal. They have a lovely pool, beautiful roof top terraces, and a peaceful garden. In the morning we were awed by the sand dunes just next to us!! The staff was incredibly nice and made us feel right at home. Strongly recommned this riad.

I only stayed here for a night with the girlfriend but it was a very nice place, great swimming pool (nicely lit at night) lots of seating areas some of which were raised up so you can look out over the sand dunes and town. Friendly staff too.

Also it had a sand board free to use and unlike other sand boards i'd used this was actually a proper snowboard with bindings. It took me half an hour to walk from the hotel through the dunes to the biggest sand dune around well worth it!
