“Close to the Sahara Dunes!”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

We spent one full night (but a couple of days) at the Riad on a recent trip to Morocco with Real Morocco Tours (the extra days being time spent either side of our overnight stay at the desert camp, deep in the heart of the Sahara dunes!)

The riad (its more like a motel) is quite modest, but it is made of traditional materials like straw and clay after all! - so it provides a real authentic Berber experience. Its also located on the edge of Merzouga, so within walking distance of the first 'wave' of Sahara dunes.

The staff were very friendly and accomodating, and the dinner was very filling!

We spend one night. Surprisingly well equipped facility and sincere staff made our trip so wonderful. The dinner was also delicious.

We spent 2 nights at this modest riad in Merzouga as part of a 4 day vehicle tour from Fez to Marrakech. Its within walking distance of the Sahara dunes. It was cold (mid Jan) but the reverse cycle heating in the large family size room and multiple blankets kept us warm and cosy. Great hot shower and very clean bathroom. The staff are friendly and helpful and Moroccan food simple and delicious, just the one set menu - dinner and breakfast were included. Great rooftop view and in summer there is a pool which Im sure is wonderful in the hot weather. Wifi connections were difficult but we were in the Sahara desert! Highly recommended as part of your Saharan/desert experience.

Room Tip: Rooms all circle an inner courtyard in typical Moroccan style.

Spent a night at the Mamouche so we could ride camels to the dunes in the morning. This is a simple, basic, spartan motel-like "raid." Perfunctory staff. Breakfast and dinner okay. Can't really complain for the price, but my guess is you can do better in the area.

We had a lovely stay at Riad Mamouche in July and walked to the dunes in the late afternoon when the heat was not a serious problem. Air-con in the rooms and quiet at all times apart from a lot of English kids that visited the pool one afternoon but no hazzle and it was a real pleasure to stay here. We had good food prepared and fresh fruit salads all nights.
The kind staff made us feel at home instantly. Highly recommended.

It was hot in Merzouga in september. Fortunately the aircondition in the rooms work very well. Everything goes slow if you order something but I think, considering the heat, this is no problem. They don't serve alcohol but it is no problem if you bring our own. The food is moderate but the people are kind and do their best to make you feel at home. Book a trip through the dessert; it is absolutely worth it to see it with a guide. To see de sun go down you have to go to the terrace witch is on the first floor (stairs). It would be nice if they would place there some more tables and chairs. Inside the Riad there is a pleasant swimming-pool with beds and seats around; also in the shade. Please mind you have to pay cash in this hotel

We visited for 2 nights, 1 spent in the dessert, other in the hotel. I could have stayed another week if I had the time. The hotel is very relaxing with a little oasis inside, birds chirping, cool and shaded restaurant patio and modern facilities (japanese electronic toilets are coming!). The hosts are incredibly helpful, always there for their guests and ready to assist in any way they can. There is a bit of construction going on right now so it will probably look even more amazing afterwards. Rooms are dark but is welcome after days spent outside. Beds are comfy and bathrooms clean. I am coming again for longer, there is so much to do in the area.

Room Tip: We had twin room and it was great
