“good location”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

the location is at the edge of the village on the hill, so does have a good view of the village (but still have to hike up to the hilltop to have the best view). The room was clean but very small, specially for a triple room. The hotel itself is well maintained. The breakfast was good, even better when had in the yard in the warm days.

We arrived unannounced and were smitten from the start. Brilliant bougainvillea over terracotta walls, vibrant Moroccan décor, a pool with a view over the old walled city – this is the Morocco of dreams and coffee table books. Staff could not have been more helpful and somehow managed to find us a room despite being busy. Dinner was served under the stars and we ate some of the best tagines of our trip. Our room was nicely appointed and very comfortable although the bathroom became a little too “wet” after showering. Sitting pool-side watching the sun go down was a delight after a long day exploring the (very close) old town. Chefchaouen was charming and Dar Echchaouen a real treat.

We loved our visit to Dar Echchaouen... The position on the edge of the village meant that it was quiet and well positioned for hiking and easy parking... the hotel provided a guard for our vehicles. A 10 minute pituresque walk finds you in the center of the Medina...
A lovely hotel, well decorated, with well equipped rooms and nice comunal areas. There is a nice pool and gardens. Access to the rooms is up stairs (there are no lifts) but if you aren't prepared for a few steps then Chefchaoen is not a place for you...
The staff were very freindly, helpful and spoke good English. They were cooperative in making arrangments for our large group even though there were last minute changes.
We would highly recomend this hotel.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this facility. We found the service met our needs nicely. Room was very clean and we quite enjoyed the decore. Located above the town it provides very nice views of the town which is a very easy walk to center of the town and the falls which are perhaps half a kilometer. One of the better stays we had in Morocco but perhaps a bit over priced relative to others we stayed in Morocco and Spain. Easily I would recommend this facitility for a several night stay..The town itself was a welcome refief from other areas of the countrywe visited.

Room Tip: Our room was a suite overloooking the courtyard and would suggest this may be worth the extra over a...

Stayed here for a couple nights on the recommendation of a friend. I was not disappointed. The hotel sits on the hill slickly above the main city (a decent to long walk uphill from the bus station - but you can take a taxi). This affords you great views over the town (if you opt for a room with a view - which I'd recommend). The rooms are well appointed. It's also a short walk to town to explore the blue city - a definite recommendation if you're in northern morocco.

Loved this hotel in Morocco! The decor and landscape were absolutely beautiful The views of the city, the refreshing pool, the delicious breakfast were some of the highlights of this wonderful place in Morocco. The price was extremely reasonable and we highly recommend Dar Echchaouen! Can't wait to visit again!

Chefchaouen is a fabulous town. We enjoyed touring around it. Dar Chefchaouen was not our favourite hotel. We travelled through Morocco for 3 1/2 weeks and this hotel was the most disappointing of all of our accomodations. The view was nice, the staff was friendly but it is more geared towards bus tours than individual couples. Our room was kitsch "swiss alp" and the bathroom was cramped with the plaster starting to crack and crumble. (surprising since it is relatively new). The town is wonderful though and well worth a visit.
