Stunning hotel, perfect location and helpful, friendly service - what more could you ask for? I had an absolutely wonderful few days at Riad Baraka. Joe and Anne were great hosts and I could have spent hours relaxing on the gorgeous rooftop terrace (too bad I didn't have a few more days here). If you're headed to Chefchaouen, you can't go wrong with this place!

This is a wonderfull place, perfectly clean, good location, nice owner, the most clean riad we've seen in our 3 weeks in Morroco. Nice view of the medina, if you don't know what to choose between ensuite or shared bathroom don't hesitate the shared bathroom are really nice, hot water and really clean. And there is heater during winter time (rare in Morroco!).

Joe was a great host- helpful at figuring out how to get around Chefchaouen as well as travel to our next destination. The whole city is small, so though it's not right on the main square, it's both near the city gate and a short walk to the center. It's beautifully restored and the rooms were comfortable. The only complaint is that it gets a bit cold in the rooms since there's only heat in the central part of the building and not in each room. The restaurant around the corner from the riad was great with good service, but also a good landmark to find the riad when walking around.

One of the highest rated riads in Chaouen found on another good hostel-website and we fully understand why! This riad, which is the cleanest ever, is run by a very hospitable British family who ensured a realy nice stay in Chaouen. The laid-back atmosphere suits this town perfectly. A nice breakfast kicks off your day and Joe and Trevor, who happen to be amazing story tellers too, are happy to give you loads of good info about where to go and what to do. At the time of our stay a few rooms were rebuilt and suited with their own bathroom, to serve them who are keen on having their own toilet and shower. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone who's visiting Chaouen (also your bank acount will appreciate this riad). Thanks guys!!

We had just arrived in Morocco for a 4 week adventure and Riad Baraka was our first stop. It was so lovely to be welcomed by Ann the owner of the Riad and to be introduced to the ways of Chefchaouen and Morocco by an English speaking 'local'. The location of the Riad is right next to the hustle and bustle of the medina which we came to see yet being one street back it was so quiet. We thought it exceptional value for the newly renovated 6 room riad and had a great breakfast each morning. thanks for a great stay. Top marks to you Ann.

Room Tip: We were a family of four and Room 5 had 4 single beds

Having endured a rather tumultuous week in Morocco the Riad Baraka was a welcome slice of true hospitality - a place not only for getting your head down, but for whiling away whole days on the stunning roof terrace.

I could not speak more highly of the staff: Joe was a warm and attentive host that went well out of his way to help us on numerous occasions. Anne was as hospitable as I could wish for and cooks what must surely be the most authentic roast dinner in Africa! Mohammed was friendly and industrious in keeping the hotel immaculately clean and tidy.

The location is spot on; being a few minutes from the big square. The rooms themselves were big and nicely decorated.

Add to this the fact that the mattresses are proper sprung mattresses (best night's sleep in Morocco by our count), the free high speed WiFi and the delicious breakfasts and the Riad Baraka really begins to stand out.

While not the cheapest bed in town, it must certainly be the best value - especially considering the comfort of the facilities which are available all day long.

Drawbacks: the hot water is sporadic in the mornings (but this is Morocco, after all).

Joe has now stopped smoking inside at breakfast, a thoughtful riposte to the negative review below this one and evidence of the scope of this Riad's hospitality.

Could not recommend more highly, can't wait to return!

This place was very clean indeed and had a great roof terrace with lovely views of the mountains. Good location also. However the classic peaceful riad atmoshpere was ruined by the very large TV on the ground floor which seemed to be on constantly and filled the internal court and lower floors' galleries with its noise (English premier league, Celebrity Masterchef etc). When people sat watching it on the sofa (which filled the internal court) and smoked, the noise, fumes and smell all rose up and made our first floor room quite unpleasant until after 10pm.

We were received by a rather brisk and unfriendly hostess in a dressing gown, and the breakfast was inferior to others we have had in Morocco (no bread&butter or orange juice). We took ours up onto the roof terrace but had to wait for it in a very smoky breakfast room where at the next table someone rolled a pretty large spliff and lit it. Room had no window, and we were overcharged when we left (but didn't realise at the time) because we'd already paid 10% deposit by booking online.
