It’s a great view, but the mosque is nothing climbing up for. The same view can be had from many vantage points in the city. Totally skip this hike, specially if you are pressed for time.

It took about 30 minutes to get up to the unused mosque... we walked slow and took photos along the way. There are several excellent places to see over Chefchaouen - and the view at the top is outstanding. Don't miss this free & easy activity if you are visiting.

If you find yourself in Chefchauen, do not hesitate to go up to the Spanish Mosque, the view along the whole entire way is unbelievable, we went up at dusk and came down when it was dark. Truly amazing experience. The road up, though, is not smooth all the way and may cause difficulties to some.

You can reach the Spanish Mosque by climbing along the trail from the Medina in around 45 minutes. The overlook to the whole city and mountains is breathtaking. Suggest to visit here in the morning or afternoon when the sunshine comes in its best angle. We came here in late January and the weather is slightly chilled. But with the sunshine and a little exercise, you won't find it very cold up the hill. Definitely a must-go in Chefchaouen.
