Nothing impressed, unless you into diving.not really a family quality time to spend here, beach is deserted from others, room is as basic as they look, the hammock on the tree isn't a hammock at all, need maintainence.buffet style food is good, but my wife having stomach problem few hours after the first meal, then she didn't eat much for the next 4 days, only those food that not involving using water to cook, maybe just her, maybe isn't the food, maybe is the mountain water as the source isn't her thing.
We stayed there but end up didn't take the scuba diving course there because they want to do the course in a big group, just 2 of us seems to them is wasting their time.we walked to other dive center took the course.
Diver instructor/owner been giving us the mad face ever since found out we went to other dives center, maybe that's how he look like in real life after all,not friendly, during the meal time he always there but never even nod, smile, greeting or anything to us.
Unless you taking dive course,or else don't expect much

Dear Paklinc
We have never replied any reviews in the trip advisor before, this is my 1st time.
I just want to let you know that we do not only entertain big dive groups as you mentioned in your review.
Please recheck your booking. You booked as 4d3n Free and Easy Package only, then almost to date of check in you asked to change it to Open Water Course. We explain on the phone to the person who made your booking and also by email. The dates you asked our dive center Instructor already occupied with students on the 17th Sept, that why we could not accommodate you. Also explained to her our Open Water Course is conducted base on 5D4N package.
You also mentioned that the instructor and the owner had giving you a mad face, when we found out you were not doing the course with us when you arrive in the resort, that is not true as we already knew before you check in as the dive center could not accommodate your schedule.
I apologize that you feel that way. If I not mistaken your Friend was also chatting with me and other guest at the resort, as he was around the property most of the time. I still remember 1 of the afternoon when I saw you at your room balcony, I did ask your friend why the dive boat did not pick you up and had you finished your course, if I was mad I would not have asked.
I agree on your statement “Unless you taking dive course, or else don't expect much”
Redang is an island for people to come enjoy snorkeling and Scuba diving and admire the beauty of the reefs and clarity of the water. To maintain this Redangkalong concept is to not to convert an island to a city. I hope this clarifies for you

been there for 3 day 2 night fullboard package. overall i would say, its was a nice place to hangout and spend quality time with ur loved ones. we have a room with 1 queen bed and 1 single bed with basic amenities. The food was superb, buffet style and the have 24-7 free flow cold/hot drink. if u want to watch television so u can enjoy it at the cafe. they also provide indoor games like, carom, dart, etc. But im a lil bit upset with the snorkelling trip, maybe coz there were old folks and kids in the group so they decided to snorkel near the coast. so, i cant really enjoy the underwater view as much as i go to Perhentian Island. i would say, Perhentian Island much better than Redang Island. they also provide kayak for who want to kayaking around the place.

Room Tip: ask for the room facing the ocean, quite nice ;)

Second time Redang. First The moment we arrived we knew we were at the wrong beach. It is secluded but its just nothing compared to the main beach. Bungalows are noisy and not clean. They clean once during your stay. BBQ food is the only good food and that is during the weekend only. Food is very poor. I'd advise everyone to stay on the main beach. After 4 nights we left and spent 1 night on the other beach and we loved it.

Malaysia is expansive but Redang Kalong resort beat it all (quality/price). Rooms are OK but not exceptionnal and largely overpriced. A broom is hung in the room: we figured out why the second day: no service (beds were not made - bathroom not cleaned).
Food: average and always the same. Better arrive at the beginning of the service otherwise there is hardly anything left. Service was very very poor: we had to clean the table ourselves, once while we were still having lunch we were asked to lift our legs so that the staff could sweep the floor underneath. etc.etc. We even had to pay for ice cubes.
Initially we wanted to stay 3 nights but could not as fully book and we were just relieved to leave.
The diving center and the diving staff are very good: security, service, selection of spots. They saved our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the ocean - Avoid those next to the restaurant

We booked the 3 day/2 night divers package. This was great if you are really into your diving as you get 5 dives as part of the package. However, we actually booked an extra night in the resort to relax and enjoy the island as the diving slots do take up your full days.

Palau Redang was beautiful and the resort is in a private stretch of beach in a quiet bay.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was ok, generally variations of chicken and rice except for the BBQ night which gave a bit more variation. There was tea, coffee, juice, water and bread available all day.

The dive instructor was really good. He was very knowledgeable about each dive site we visited and assisted us to develop our diving skills. There are so many dive sites around the island you are spoilt for choice.

We would definitely recommend this place to friends but would warn that it is exclusively a dive resort (although there were also a lot of people on snorkelling packages). We enjoyed our stay and were glad to stay the extra day to relax on the quiet beach.

Just spent 5 days at kalong radang, excellent time, fully catered food, snorkelled twice a day for over 2 hours each time. The staff really looked after us. A banquet is offered 4 times a day, inclusive of accommodation charges but when we asked if they have vegetarian food, they provided special great meals each meal in addition to the banquette meals. The team on the snorkelling excursion we very attentive to everyone's needs. They were in the water with us each time pointing out lots of interesting things. They took us to some fantastic places.. So much to see. The atmosphere is totally relaxed, so much nicer than the big resorts which are a 15 minute walk away. Whilst the accommodation is basic we found it adequate clean and cosy. The air conditioning worked a treat, two bottoms just off and on. First class service we had a great time.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms are worth the additional charge, but if there booked out the forest view are fi...

Redang Kalong is on an isolated beach which is beautiful. It's 15 minutes walk to the long beach which has more activities as well as people. If you value peace and quiet this is the place to be. We took the 5 dive package which was a great value for money at around RM 750 with accomadation for 2 nights and food included 4 meals a day. Snorkeling is included with the stay and they take you out 2 times a day by boat. Rooms are basic, walls are thin. Great staff and very friendly boatmen and dive instructors not to mention well experienced. No remote for air con so it gets a bit cold.Buffet style food so don't expect much. I would definitely return here for sure.
