We had our wonderful wedding in Berjaya Redang Beach Resort. The entire hotel staff were extremely friendly and did their very best to ensure perfection in our wedding. A beautiful wedding ceremony by the last rock on the beach followed by a beautiful dinner on the beach under the stars. It was just perfect! The beach has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with crystal clear water and white fine sand.
We are very glad to have chosen this resort for our wedding. All the guests and ourselves had a great time.

This is my 2nd visit to the Resort, after almost 10 years. My visit this time is with my buddies and their respective partner so 5 rooms were booked. We arrived by flight around 9.30am. The reception told me that they have only reserved 4 rooms with king bed and another 1 room with twin bed. I was pretty annoyed coz the instruction was very specific...all 5 rooms with king bed. Took 2 hours to complete the room selection process and in the end 1 of my friend took the twin room.

We took the seaview room. The view was fantastic. The room is clean and comes with standard amenties but no hair dryer. Maybe u need to request for it.. Day bed by the window. The balcony is nice with a coffee table & 2 beach chairs. It overlook the beach and the sea below. It is open concept for the bathroom with a venetian blind to separate the bath from the bed. Best for couples only.

The swimming pool is rather small but it's really that that important coz the sea is crystal clear and the pool is just secondary, so no issue to that.

The coffee house is rather small and it's pack. Our reservation for 10 persons wasn't attended to and we were squeezed into a rather small table fit for 8.

Snorkelling trip was great as we got a boat all for ourselves. The corals however are not impressive anymore. By the way, there is no sunset or sunrise to watch.

Overall, it's a very nice resort, quiet and tranquill. If you are looking for a nice relaxing stay you can consider staying here. It's probably the only high end resort in Redang. If I were to go to Redang again with my buddies only without our partner, I'll probably choose another place at Long beach, cheaper & less luxury resort but probably more lively and happening.

Everything in this hotel are close to perfect, the location, private white sand beach, swimming, spa, mainly the staff, well trained and attended, check in and check out, free fast WiFi almost everywhere, but the food is just ok.

Try to choose transportaion via Berjaya Air.

BRBR (Berjaya Redang Beach Resort) is must-stay experience on the island.

We had a good stay at Berjaya. I would go back and I would recommend it.

Berjaya is very much a resort and therefore perfect if you are looking to have a relaxing, no-brain, beach holiday without too many choices and decisions to make.

The beach is fantastic. We were disappointed at first as the first thing we saw was a "no swimming" sign. This is due to strong undercurrents. We didn't swim out to far, but we did spend a lot of time in the water anyways. The water is very very clear and the sand on the beach is perfectly white and fine. It's a pretty big beach and never felt crowded. There were tons of lounge chairs and towels at no cost.

The pool area is fine for families with small children, but not very charming.

The room was very nice. We had a seaview but actually quite close to the hillview rooms, so we didn't have the best view of the beach. The balcony was nice. On the one day that it rained almost all day we were so happy to be in a nice room where we could spend a good day despite the weather and not let it ruin our holiday. A big minus is the bathroom though! It's spacious and well-fitted with seperate shower and big bath tub - but there is no proper divider between the bathroom and the bedroom! No glass or wall - just blinds/curtain. It did not feel great that there was nothing to seperate the bathroom from the bedroom - with the bed just beside the bathtub.

The food was decent. There were not that many options, but the staff really did do their best to accomodate us with vegetarian food. The buffet was alright some nights but really very very expensive. Overall the food was ok for a resort but grossly overpriced.

One positive surprise was the staff. I would not have expected great service from the staff of such a large resort, but we really found many of them very attentive and friendly and several went out of their way to serve us well.

One strange thing was a high peeping/buzzing noise coming from a power generator or similar for several hours every afternoon. It was particularly bad on one side of the beach and by the tennis courts. Not very pleasant.

Overall we had a very good, very relaxing, beach holiday at Berjaya. If it had been 30% less expensive I would have said it was great. At this price it was good, not great.

Very disapointed with the room and especially on the second and third night, we got bitten by bugs. With the type of price we paid for the accomodation is really not worth it.

Stayed at the hotel for two nights. Rooms: Some of the rooms are currently being refurbished, If you get an OLD room then they are a bit gloomy and also the cleanliness is not up to scratch. The floors and surfaces were not cleaned properly and hence frequented by the local ant population. Food: The buffet lunch and dinner wasn't of great quality, it looked like a Malaysian was told to cook British food. The a-la-carte was better, however the food is very expensive for Malaysian standards, may be OK if you are used to British prices. Water was provided free. Service and Staff: Very very good, lots of staff and all very friendly and helpful. Location: Great, clean beach, clear water. You have to go on diving/snorkeling trips. This is really the only reason to go and stay at the hotel.

We arrived at the jetty from Kuala Terengganu at noon and the check-in was smooth. Soon, we were driven to our room by a buggy. The seaview room was spacious for four of us (2 adults and 2 children), the view of the beach was breathtaking.
The staffs are very friendly and courteous, ever willing to assist us. The sunny weather was great and made snorkeling exciting as we can see the bottom of the sea since the water is crystal clear.
One thing that might be improved is the food and the variation since only one restaurant was open (the other being renovated), despite that we all had a great time here.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
‘The Taaras’ is a bespoke Private Beach Residence, tucked away and hidden from the outside world on a small Island found just off the unspoilt East Coast of tropical Malaysia. Considered to be one of the most beautiful Island locations in the South China Sea, the Isle of Redang is home to our natural, yet stylish resort found on one of the most spectacular bays surrounded by one of the bluest oceans on earth. The resorts ethos is to provide a contemporary, barefoot luxury experience with warm Asian hospitality, remembered with a smile long into the future. The name of the property is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘TAARA’, meaning ‘Star or Apple of my eye’ as well as ‘Goddess of the Sea’ which are all represented and epitomised by our mermaid figurehead. The resort is managed by The Taaras Luxury Group, and was formerly known as Berjaya Redang Resort managed by Berjaya Hotels and Resorts. With the stylish suites and rooms, as well as a stunning five bedroom Private Villa perched high up on the cliff overlooking the ocean and resort below. The resort boasts commissioned furniture and bespoke photography of Redang Island and the landscapes of Malaysia. Each suite or room contains oversized beds and hand-picked linens and fabrics for your comfort. Most rooms and all suites have larger washrooms containing both bath tub and separate rain or monsoon shower (some with spa bathtubs looking out over the rainforest or the bay). Most residences have an outdoor balcony or verandah and our suites at the top of the cliff summit have spectacular views over the beach and ocean below. For clients who prefer or require further privacy ‘The Cliff Private Villa Bay & Sea View’, our private five bedroom residence perched high up on the cliff more than meets the requirements; private access, a Villa Host at your ‘beck and call’ as well as twenty four hour security; should it be a necessary requirement. The residence also enjoys a sixteen meter Infinity swimming pool, personal fitness room and both interior and exterior lounge. ... more   less
