“No Regrets!”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

If your not on a tight budget, this trip is for you.

Purchased via Matta Fair 2012 :
RM 550 (3D2N - 4 meals daily + beach towels + 20% off massage + 2 snorkeling trips + sunset discovery) + RM 60 (Airport & boat transfer) ... per person

The whole trip went perfect for 12 of us as airport and boat transfers were on time and comfortable. Staffs were friendly and helpful especially Max and Jess from the snorkeling team. The beach was awesome and the water crystal clear. We were brought snorkeling to 3 places where we saw all kind of fishes, a couple of sharks and also turtles. Also snorkeled by the shallow waters of long beach, suitable for elderly people. All meals were delicious, no complains. Sleep was comfortable and the room clean, neat and basic. Hairdryer provided but the room came without clocks, minibar and tv. Sunset discovery and the hike up the hybrid station was brilliant. Blessed with breathtaking views. Check out my pictures

Room Tip: Higher floor facing the beach gets an awesome view. Beware of family rooms that comes without a balc...

Went on a package which includes breakfast, snorkelling trips, sunset discovery tour and a trek up to the top of the island. The breakfast is basic but good enough with all the fundamentals. Food at the restaurant is generally great though pricey! Snorkelling trips were great fun at beautiful locations (however rental of equipment needed at RM30/pax). Staff are friendly and approachable, even made a few friends!

Rooms are basic and clean. There are no televisions, so head out and enjoy the pristine waters and fantastic beach! They have nice lounge chairs for sunbathing, reading or just a day of chilling. Waters are shallow and crystal clear all the way out so you can practically walk pretty far out.

It's more pricey than other chalets but better amenities and service does come at a price. What's great about the place is you do get the seclusion and serenity but do not have to compromise on fun which is just a short beach walk away.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms!!

Room was basic but clean - looked to be the best you can get on the island. No TV. The food in the restaurant was amazing, we didnt eat anywhere else it was that good. The free cocktails between 5-6 were a nice touch to end a day on the beach. We went on 2 snorkelling trips from the hotel which were amazing - saw turtles and sharks. Worth taking a snorkell with you as you can see lots from the beach as well.

I booked into this place last week, the tail end of our Malaysian island escapade. I've been to Bubu before, some 8 yrs back, and preferred it then much better. Although the resort looks new and has a very 'island' touch to it, i feel i was pretty much ripped off, think paying for the Westin and getting a decent 3 star hotel.

The room i booked into was a family room. It had two double beds and a double bunk for my kids. Air conditioning was ok, as that seems to be a major problem in the island due to generator issues. I understand bubu has its own generator, but the family room location left much to be desired. It was located at the back end, facing the forest and a lavatory. There was no balcony *i'm assuming for safety reasons, which is fine with me*,

Food there is ridiculously priced. Yes, whilst i understand it's an island, but it need not be overpriced. Think RM30 plus for friend mee goreng, RM50+ for lamb, tho the portions were big, i still think that it was overboard. I cannot complain over the food quality, but i feel that the owners need to rethink their pricing policy. I also was disappointed with the fact that there was no kid menu. Kids were expected to order off their moderately sized menu, think big portions, lots of wastage.

Plus points:-
1. The massage center. OMG. The masseurs were professional, they dont speak english but they can do wonders!!! I suffer from a slipped disc and they helped me manage my pain and literally took it away for that whole trip. They KNOW what they are doing and i thoroughly enjoyed myself there.
2. The reception and the staff are very helpful and cheerful. Always ready to help, and bending backwards too.

I guess my grouse is mainly about the pricing. The waters there are clear, but NOT as clear as perhentian Besar. I was initially traveling from there and i found P. besar to be much more relaxing, not exorbitantly priced and as for corals, look no further.

Overall, would i come back to Bubu? I don't think i would, as i do not like to pay premium prices for average accomodation. Paying RM580 for a family room per nite is pretty steep, if you ask me!

Room Tip: If you're lookin for a room, get those on the grd floor. They open towards the cafe, beach fron...

Had a wonderful time here. Super friendly and efficient resort staff. The room was just nice for two occupants and it came with an attached bathroom with WC and shower stall (w/ hot water). Although the first day of arrival, there was a hiccup with the AC, the Front Office Manager immediately resolved the problem within 15 mins!

We took the full board package and the food provided are just so so. Pretty much Asian selection mostly. To furnish our palates further, we ordered ala carte and was in awe by how cheap is the seafood here! There are also selection of mock tails during the happy hour.

For free time, beside becoming a lounging lizard under the sun, there are other sea sports activity ie diving, snorkeling, kayaking and etc.

If one word could describe this place, it would be unfair because its too amazing to be settled with just one word! :)

I recently planned a holiday here with my family on 28/4/2012. we planned to stay 3 nights and return on 1st May. We flew to Kota Bahru airport. We took a package which included accommodation, all meals, airport transfers and speed boat transfer to and from the resort. When we landed, they was someone there to greet us. Only thing he had to say to us was the van is full. Sorry no place the boss had some family members visiting and you will have to wait for an alternative transport while we take the owner's distinguished relatives in your place to the jetty. He then handed me a mobile number and told me to call this person who would send us to Kuala Besut jetty. I rang this chap up, he hadn't a clue of what was happening but arrived after an hour after my wife called a staff person at the Kl office. Once at the resort, we found the facilities very basic for the price we paid we expected better. The ceiling in the room is mouldy, no mini bar fridge, no drinking water and pink walls. The staff at the resort is the only good thing about the resort. They are overworked, smiling all the time and ever ready to serve. Our meals were disappointing. After lunch on Day1 ( it looked like the lunch was prepared from the staff kitchen for the staff) I do not mind simple food, its just that it was not in keeping for what we had paid and for what we planned to have for meals while on holiday. Well, we decided to cut our trip short and come back to KL on day 2. I paid a penalty of RM 800 to re do our flight tickets, but we had enough. No explanation was offered for the botched up pick up. My wife spoke to the general manager, who was apologetic and offered us complimentary dinner the night before we left. My advice to the owner would be to not take your guests for granted- we help run your place and pay your staff salaries. Not your free loading relatives so do not bonk full fare paying guests off and leave them stranded at the airport to figure things out for themselves.

We stayed for 3D/2N at the Bubu Long Beach Resort on 14/4/2012. Everything was nice, the beach, fantastic snorkeling, lunch, tea & breakfast were all good, except the 1st night BBQ dinner which was served nicely placed onto a big plate, but all the food were cold already. They wanted to BBQ everything, then only place nicely onto the plate. But its too late, the food was unexpectedly cold & hard to eat. I hope there will be a better arrangement for it in future. But overall we really like the place especially the friendly & helpful stuff. Thank you to all of you.
