“Relaxing stay, fantastic snorkelling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

We arrived without a booking and were able to get a chalet. At first sight we thought we would only stay one night as it was very basic. The bathroom has a toilet and pipe for a shower and no hand basin. Everything gets soaked and there's only cold water. You have to pay extra for towels and toilet paper!

However, the place definitely grew on us. It is very laid back and relaxing but the highlight is the beautiful water and great snorkelling right off the beach. You really don't have to pay extra to go on snorkelling trips.

The beach is small and secluded and only has the one resort which is much nicer than the crowded Long Beach across the bay.

The restaurant has a good menu with very reasonable prices.

The chalets get very hot at night and the small fan struggles to cope.

Yes it is basic and you do have to pay for everything as extras but the room rate is very cheap to start with. We thought it was good value.

Me and my circle of good friends stayed here for 3D2N from 1st of June untill 3rd of June 2012. At first, I read some of the reviews this place was bad, but after I experienced it myself, I think it's not bad at all.

Yes, it's not perfect and basic but hey, if you are expecting the best you won't choose here at the first place. I'm the person who are very simple and me and my friends don't care at all the room conditions, bla bla bla. As long I can sleep, eat, sunbathing, shower, and that is very occay for me. And it's the company that counts. Some more the package is soooo cheap so, I won't complain. The workers here are so friendly. And I also read the review the workers are sucks.. Well listen, my concept if you being friendly the workers nice and they will treat us nicer. Kak Nor is sooooooo patient entertaining us. And now she's closed with us coz we treated her and her cats (TOK) nicely. The male workers very click with us even though they had fun with us watching our behavior especially during banana boat session. :P And frankly, I would love to come here again.

We stayed at D'lagoon for 3D2N. I expecting a relaxing holiday but by the end of the day it turns off. The services they provide were really pathetic indeed. Just Imagine they cant' provide even a towels for their own guest by giving a lot of excuses. The euipment provided were terrible. They offered a twice trip to snorkeling activities but the snorkeling gear (gogglemask and hose) were in bad condition. Its all leak and malfunction. But the worst scenario, the manager/owner of this resort even shouted at us as an 'animal', 'damn' and all other disgrace words to our group trip. Even if your guest/customer made some silly mistake, there is NO reason for the manager to behave like that.it is such a disgrace and despicable manner. For me, this is my second time to Perhentian Island and i will go again next time in a future but for sure not staying at this pathetic resort/chalet.

This is a really relaxed, secluded place on its own little beach that you can sunbathe on or snorkel from. Mostly wooden chalets with one or two dorm rooms. The staff were really friendly and the whole place is run on a tab system so you don't need to worry about carrying cash for food or drinks, only for the activities (kayak hire, snorkel hire, flying fox, scuba and banana boat). They're also happy to keep hold of any food you bring in in a secure location so you don't get "night visitors" in your room. Everything is fairly priced for an island resort, the menu food was pretty decent and was generally between RM8 and 12, you could also book fresh fish for the evenings (BBQ/fried fish, rice, veg, chicken tom yam RM20 each for 5people).

Well located to walk to Turtle Beach and watch the sunset and not far from Adam and Eve beach (also good for sunset and more seclusion).

This is not the place to come for big parties (unless you bring all the people too) but is great for anyone wanting to relax and see the sea. Probably not the best location for those who insist that nature should stay outside too. Although everything was clean, the chalets are made of wood and are on the edge of a forest so there are usually ants on the floor, mosquitos will get in and you might see a lizard too.

The only significant improvement would be if you could buy individual, refrigerated beers.

I can't comment on the dorm rooms as we stayed in the tree-house, a small, elevated room with cosy verandah and amazing views. It is tucked into a tree right on the water's edge, with a private bathroom one level below the bedroom.

The tree-house is small, but private and with a pretty view from the bedroom, verandah and toilet! You can hire a cheap mosquito net and take advantage of the breezy location.

The beach here is small, isolated, and perfect for a quiet beach holiday. The coral is some of the best to be found near a resort on these islands (although the Perhentians are generally disappointing for nature lovers and evironmentalists).

Most negative reviews for this place are old. The staff here are fine, if a little lazy - but hey, they work on an island. The manager simply chain smokes and chats on his mobile, but his deputy - a younger woman - works hard and does a great job of running the place.

There are easy walks to all the other lovely beaches on the north of the island from here, and although signs mention there is theft on the island, D'Lagoon is intimate enough for you to be able to leave your gear around and be sure it will still be there when you come back for it.

The food is passable and cheaper than anywhere else on the Perhentians, but the yummy fruit smoothies are addictively good.

Great for the down-to-earth traveller who isn't after a 5 star experience in a crowded resort. You'll only get better if you head off the beaten track to a more remote and untouched island.

We stayed at d'lagoon for 3 nights. I had visited 9 years prior to this and the place had barely changed, which was lovely! The beach is remote and offers plenty of opportunities for just relaxing, snorkeling (amazing sealife!) And a base to explore the nearly 2 deserted beaches. You can also walk through the jungle for an hour or so to get to long beach- its a sweaty hilly walk in the heat however! On the day we planned to visit d'lagoon the sea was very rough so we ended up walking it with our large rucksacks!

We really enjoyed our stay and found the staff really pleasant. The food was lovely, but would maybe get a bit samey on a longer stay. The rooms had a beatiful view (we stayed in marlin chalet) and were really cheap (60RM I think), but they were very basic and not too secure. With a bit of repair work and paint the place could be amazing!

I would recommed this to other...but only if they were ok with getting back to basics!
