Overall an average place to stay, but expensive for what you get.
The rooms are very spacious, however with just two very small windows, it became very dark inside.
The infamous cockroaches let us know of their presence too.
The shower unfortunately was the let down, held up by an elastic band and deciding to turn off at random times was annoying.
However, we did get the option to have the football games shown in our room, for free, AND, we were given 2 extra mattresses for friends to crash in our room, saving us a lot of cash.
Shari La is a stunning resort in a beautiful location, with great service and many things to do, however, if you're a little particular about the little finishing touches, then maybe it's not for you.
:)

Stayed here 4 times during my active years visiting the island.
They have a few types of cabins to choose from, great for families and honeymooners.
The room is good, toilet is good, furnitures and bed is good too.
One of the resorts that offering a hot shower and 24hrs of electricity, not many resorts over here offering that kind of facilities.
But the food i think is a bit expensive, you should walk down a bit to the beachside, there is a few restaurant offering great food at great price.
Not sure about their watersport services as i am normally rent a kayak from the beach shop.
There is a spot like private beach just downhill from the side of this resort, crystal clear blue waters.
Also it is easier to get to Long Beach by a short trek cross the hill behind the resort.

We stayed here for 5 nights in september2012.payed 120rm for a twin room with aircon ,tv, and bathroom. On first viewing the room , although a bit old and tired seemed ok .but the room was very dark and seemed damp.
My view of this room changed on the first night when I found a large cockroach on my toothbrush in the bathroom, followed later by more cockroaches running over my bed, and round the room. As the reception was not staffed at night we could not even get the room sprayed, or move rooms.
The next day the reception was very apolagetic and moved our room with no hassle. But the second room although cleaner still had roaches in it, as we were only staying for a few more days we bought bug spray and did chemical war in the room.
Overall an okay room was ruined by poor cleaning and lack of attention to cleanliness
The wi fi connection was really bad everywhere but at reception.

When we arrived at Kecil island, we didn't have a place to stay yet. This one seemed too expensive, so we went to see all the other ones first... Most of them ware so unfriendly and unwilling to even help us... Other ones were so expensive i didn't even want to see the rooms. Another one was quite expensive, ànd the room was really stinky (they said it was because it was just renovated... yeah right!)
So we returned to Shari-La Resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful! They hadn't standard rooms available, only a 'budget' room. It was not really nice, but it was cheap, and we decided to stay there for one night, because they said there was a big chance that a standard room would be available the next day... and it was! we stayed for 4 nights in a standard room. It was cleaned every day, and it was surely big enough!
The food in the hotel (buffet) and the bbq is really good and not expensive (i expected a higher price since this is a resort...). They also have a 'private romantic beach', with some seats. It's very quiet and you can snorkel and see loooots of fishes really close by the beach.
The staff reserved our boat ticket when we left and gave us information about the bus we wanted to take to the next city.
We also did our laundry there, and had free wifi in the hotel. Very friendly staff and clean hotel!

Not really sure how I feel about this place. The rooms are nice and fairly spacious but the bathrooms are another matter; the drain is by the toilet and the angle of the shower head is not adjustable so it goes everywhere. If you just wanted to go into the bathroom to brush your teeth in the evening the floor would still be wet as the draining is inefficient. Coral bay was very small and crammed with people and the sea is full of rocks. I'd suggest taking a 10 min walk (past Ewan's cafe which was fantastic) to Long beach which is beautiful. The food at the hotel was OK but the service wasn't very good at all. I sound like I'm slating this hotel and Western Perhentian Kecil but as I write this I'm sat in KBC on Kapas island and Perhentian doesn't even come close.
