“Disgusting”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013 via mobile

Stayed there for four nights. Our room was standard a/c. We got to our room and were greeted with a very weird smell. The carpet was moldy. Bathroom sink was broken. The bed was very uncomfortable. The a/c was very loud. All in all it was horrible. The monkeys that live around the resort pooped and pissed all over our terrace and steps. The poop wasn't cleaned in two days time and when it finally was somebody just tossed it off the step leaving nice skidmarks. In retrospect I wonder why we didn't just leave and demand a refund.

Busy weekend, that we had this room last minute from an agent just right outside of the pier. We had no choice but to take the room, hill view deluxe, relatively expensive. It's not really a hill view, it's a roof view from other chalets. Room was big enough, it's for 3 person, simple amenities, bed is good, toilet is small but it's a hot shower so it's fine. They do house-keeping which i like. Every chalet has their own path and balcony, sometimes gecko around. The power goes off every now and then during the day when we tried to rest a while when we reach. The dive centre is operated by an English, i guess, not friendly and cut us off when we were discussing and planning for our diving trips with the instructors. We waited at first, and left for another better dive centre. He thought we were French and apologize when he found out we were not. The food is expensive, so we did not eat at all in this resort.

Room Tip: sea view deluxe looks good

went to Perhentian Island twice, and I feel Coral View Island Resort give us an excellent services. Each room is USD 5-10 more expensive compared with other budget chalet but its worth.
Daily housekeeping, proper bed, proper nice pillow, clean towel every day, coral reef and snorkeling area (to watch sea turtle grazing) exactly in front of the hotel.
Food is served in a good manner and good taste, The BBQ is slightly too expensive and not in a good shape.
I choose asian food such as fried rice, noodle and sandwiches which all came in a nice taste.

Room Tip: Get room which facing coral beach, same line with perhentian Island Resort.

It's simple but nice - considering that everything comes in on small boats. We had a family deluxe garden view and we were satisfied. The occasional ant and gecko in the bathroom doesn't bother us. They try to maintain the place well - sweeping the outside of leaves it seems every other day. The outside paint job on the unit was recent.

Restaurant is nice. If you come during Ramadan, expect long waits to get your food, as they become short-staffed - but hey, you're supposed to be on vacation! Management is a little grumpy but the general staff are friendly and helpful.

You can snorkel off the beach. I'd say about 85% is dead coral and 15% live. Enough fish though to keep one interested. You can take a boat snorkelling trip to see better coral in the area. Overall, Coral View is a good place to stay.

We had the "garden view deluxe" rooms. The room is good the chalet is nice. Bathroom needs fixes or even better replacement. But the location is superb. Superb blue waters, great fit snorkeling (I've seen 3 turtles and 2 small reefsharks) and diving lying on the beach (the resort next-door has the best beach of the lagune, that you can use free of charge). At night you can eat fresh fish from the BBQ and there is 1 bar where you can have a beer or wine. Dream location.

This resort is one of the oldest on the island. Although, some of the fittings and furnitures have aged, they are all in good working condition. The beds and pillows (my wife is especially particulars about them) also received the thumbs up from my wife. Would appreciate if the management combine some of the downlights with brighter bulbs to brighten up the interior of the rooms.
The restaurant is fantastic. Serving good food at a very reasonable and affordable price. After surveying the prices of nearby eateries, we found that the food here is of almost the same price if not cheaper and the ambiance is so much better. We ended having all our meals here. The waiters were friendly except for a new trainee who was unsure of the menus.
The sea view rooms will be a better choice tho a little bit more costly. if you are the adventurous type and don't mind some climbing, the hill tops rooms will be an exciting choice.
The beach is right at the door steps of the sea view rooms. Very convenience. If you want a longer beach, the one in front of Perhentian Island Resort is only a few stone throw away.

Room Tip: Would strongly recommend the Family suite seaview and if one can afford it the Exceutive Suite Sea v...

This hotel really need a major face lift as it is still the same old hotel since 10 years ago.

This time we stayed for 4 nights in two difference kinds of rooms, Deluxe Garden View and Sea View Family Suite. Deluxe Garden View is very dark inside and you need to switch on all the lights in broad day light. Sea View Family Suite is still ok as the big glass door allow more natural light to go in. The furnitures in rooms are very old. It is still the same furniture we came 10 years ago including the air conditional (box type). One of the night the air condition break down. Luckily there are workman from the hotel that can do the repair in 30 minutes. They removed the "dinosaur" air con and replace another new "dinosaur" air con. The air con service guy is very polite and helpful.

The restaurant service is very poor, the waiter can't really understand the order and they don't even border repeat the order. The coffee is diluted and half boiled eggs are raw! The local fried noodle is good but come in very small portion. However the restaurant is located at a convenient location and you will surely pass by and need to eat here one of the day if you are staying along this beach (for variety). A few newer table located outside has beautiful sea view and setting.

The good thing about this hotel is that they have beautiful land scape. Also the location is great as you can stay here and walk to the sandy beach in front of Perhentian Island Resort or do 15 minutes trekking over the hill to Tuna Bay side.

Room Tip: Choose Deluxe Sea View if you have to stay here.
