My wife and I stayed here for a few nights after travelling around Nepal, Vietnam and Laos and had some intrepidation about the resort having read some of the mixed reviews, mainly about the staff service and the rooms.

We had a garden deluxe suite and came here knowing that it is not a luxury resort (go to Redang for these, especially Taara's, but they are 4 - 5 times more expensive) and found the accommodation ok. There are things that they could easily do to improve it, like have mosquito net for the doors and windows so you can get a fresh breeze at night, and the rooms are starting to look tired - a bit of TLC would really brighten them up, but you can have a good nights sleep there for a reasonable price and the location is easily the best on the island.

The snorkelling is the best I have seen going straight off the beach and it compares with Redang and even Lizard Island on the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkelling off the beach we saw sharks, turtles, triggerfish and much much more. What else could you ask for?

The diving school, Pro Diver's World, next to the resort is fantastic. All the staff there are very friendly, easy going and also professional. They know their stuff and cater for all levels. My wife did a discovery dive there and they were great with her. Between them they cover almost all the European languages!

The staff turned out on the whole to be friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant staff, who were great. The two women at reception were less so and if this could change it would make a big difference. I think if you go there with preconceived ideas they will be unfriendly and don't make the effort yourself, you may end up with poor service. But if you start chatting to them and give them a chance, they are warm, charming and happy to help. This worked with the restaurant staff, less so with reception...

The banana pineapple milkshakes are to die for! You can buy them in 1.5l jugs and chill looking over the beach. The food is ok, but you have a lot of choice further down the beach too.

If you are looking for diving, snorkelling and seriously good milkshakes, with reasonable accommodation this is the place to go. A few small changes to this place could turn it from good/very good to great; clean up/repaint the rooms, add mosquito nets to the doors and window, plus get the receptionist to smile more.

Been here a few times. Simple accommodation with access to 2 nice beaches, and good snorkeling waters. not for people expecting a 5 star resort. food is decent and enjoyable. This is the only resort i will stay on perhentian due to the location.

We travelled in a big family group, 23 of us including kids and took 8 rooms, combination of Executive Suite, Garden Family Deluxe and Seaview Deluxe. We reached there early morning, and good that they let us checked-in one of the available rooms for us to change and freshen up after the long overnight journey from KL. Rooms are decorated with intricate traditional malay style, makes you feel like staying in a kampung. Our rooms are located quite close to the cafe, shop, and beach so we had no problem in going back and forth from our room to the beach.
Food was good and tasty and reasonable mixed of buffet spread, and they refilled frequently so you do not have to worry about not having enough. Best to have BBQ dinner at the deck facing the sea.
The only drawback was the frequent power tripped especially after 7 pm, maybe due to sudden surged of usage. We also had our room with power failure a few times when we switched on the air-cond, but they came and fixed it quite immediately. So, service was reasonably good.
The beach at teluk pauh was really fantastic, clean and shallow water, you do not need to go far to see different types of fish, corals and we even saw baby shark there! We took the boat ride to other snorkeling places around perhentian besar island, and the best is the Pantai Pasir Tiga ( maybe one of the best beaches in the world), amazingly beautiful blue waters and corals, with nice white sandy beach.
We managed to walk to other nearby resorts, but they dont look as nice as ours, in terms of the landscaping, the rooms and the ambience. Overall, this resort is good for family with kids, close to nature, we saw monkeys, cameleon, flying fox and squirrels around, and close to beach for snorkelling.

Room Tip: Choose the seaview for best access and location, or garden view. The hillview is quite a challenge for people with disability or unfit.

We travelled as a family with baby, kids and old folks.
Overall, we enjoyed the stay.
Great rooms 541, 540 & 539, family deluxe garden view with sea view when you look out to your left from the unit. The rooms are close to the beach too.
Staff was friendly and service fine.
We were however disappointed with the old worn out mattress and bedsheet.
The buffet meals included in the package was average to poor.
The snorkeling in front of the resort is rocky due to dead coral pieces, beware as you can get scratched easily especially when low tide.
We will come back again if management heeds the reviews here and refurbish their old beds/ rooms and improve the food quality to give better value for their full boarders.

We stayed there 13 nights and enjoyed our stay. The location of the hotel is just perfect between 2 beaches. One of them has a reef directly in front so you can see a lot of different fishes. The turtles are not far away neither (they live in front of the PIR). Staff was always very helpful and friendly. The transport from the mainland worked well.
First we stayed in a Deluxe Garden View room. It was nice, they change towels and bed sheets every day. Air con and fan worked well. Make sure to bring mosquito repellent if you want to be outside in the late afternoon/evening. After a few days we changed to a Deluxe Sea view, and it was definitely worth it! They are directly at the beach, you get a nice fresh breeze from the sea and you have a bigger veranda with two sunbeds. We loved it!
Food: We tried all the restaurants on the island, and we think that the breakfast buffet in Coral View definitely isn´t worth it, try Mamas instead. Snacks and dinner are a little pricier in Coral View, but the service is better too. For BBQ I would recommend one of the others (Mamas, Watercolours) as they serve the same dishes for less money.

Room Tip: Deluxe Sea View is really worth it!
