Five friends packed into a superior room.. we split the cost and finds the place pretty budget.
The view was awesome- you can see both the pool and parts of the ocean. The view should be roughly the same with what you get in the more expensive marriott hotel. The two hotels are pretty close to each other.
Parking out front was stressful as there's no basement and on weekend they tend to be functions like weddings so from 6plus to 10 - its hard to get a good spot- you'll have to park further away.
The room itself was moderate. Age shows but carpet and bed was decent enough though the pillows (one of the things im always most concern about) was not really comfortable. the spare pillows (in the cupboard) and the one on the bed are actually different - so try out which suits you better- ones more lumpy then the other.
The worst of the room is the toilet- the bath tub needs a good scrub. There's the tub only, no stand in shower- i prefer the latter. The tub had mixture of stains and rust (?) - am not sure - we try washing down with water but it stays so feels bit icky whilst showering. If you are picky with toilets then its a downer but it did not really spoil the stay for me as i did still have a pretty good sleep.
We actually came for the pool as we were told its pretty big- goes as deep as 1.4m or something like that but water temperature's pretty cold and there's no standing area to wash yourself prior to immersing in. The surrounding foliage and trees provided good cover in parts so you can stil swim at 8ish, 9am without getting tanned but it does mean there's fallen leaves and sticks in the pool though pool maintenance guy was there since 7 trying to fish branches out. We book the room at lower price without breakfast buffet so i have no idea what's the food like. Service in general was good.
Overall the hotel's a pretty good place to stay - not too near or too far from major shopping area. But i'll say if you stay there- 2 places to check out. At night - go karaoke at 'The terminal' it's less than 10minutes away - a clean and modern place to sing your hearts out and in the morning go to Old Town White Coffee Cafe (kopitiam) - pretty good selection of breakfast from toast to mee (noodles) and much more at a decent price. Both areas are shop lots along the way. Ask around and shouldnt be too hard to find.
