Stayed here at the end of a long journey from Kota Kinabalu via Sepilok en route to Sukau. The hotel is nicely laid out around its welcoming pool. Rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. Staff were able to arrange an early morning trip for a group of us to visit the sun bear sanctuary at Sepilok (well worth the trip!). Dinner was in the form of an international buffet, with tasty offerings from many countries (from nasi lemak to tempura, tandoori to pasta) the quality was excellent, a good opportunity for us to try teh tarik too. Likewise breakfast was great. A very nice hotel.

Disappointing. Dated and in need of a refit. Room musty. Pool area nice and lovely forest surrounding but this did not outweigh the poor service and staff who were disinterested. Luggage left on trolley on arrival and no courtesy extended. No food at breakfast -buffet completely devoured by 7.30am and had to ask member of staff for something to eat. She returned with 4slices of watermelon! I won't be returning.

Counter service was rather slow. There was only one staff at front desk on arrival as well as check out. System was down upon check in hence there was a delay as it had to be done manually. Nonetheless, the room was comfortable and bell counter service was quick. Breakfast with poolside view and reasonable variety of food.

We stayed here for one night at the end of a 5 day jungle tour. Like a previous reviewer stated, if you've stayed at the Sheraton, you will be disappointed!

The hotel is nice enough, clean and has a decent pool but the rooms and furnishings are very dated and can definitely do with refurbishing. The main onsite restaurant is ok, but unless you fancy getting a taxi into the main part of Sandakan, you'll have to make do as the hotel is situated a bit out of the way.

Ok for one night, but do go for one of the more modern hotels near the harbour if you're planning on staying in Sandakan for any longer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool - they often upgrade guests

Beautiful Resort but in desperate need of a room remolding. We were booked for 5 nights but only stayed one night after switching rooms due to a bad odor and then to another room which was better but still had the an odor. The hall way to the rooms smelled horrible like mold which I think the carpet was old and held the smell so the room carpets the same. All carpets were stained badly not what we expected from a 4 star resort. After we cancelled our other days they offered us to see a remolded room but it was too late as we had already found another hotel to move to. If all the hallways smelled that way we could not imagine it better. Room was good size but the view was not so good as it viewed a roof top and staying so far from town we thought the view would be better, too. Room did not have a safe which was advertised. Here is the good; The internet worked well, the beds were soft enough and comfortable and the bathroom was ok with hot shower. The best part is the lobby and the grounds around the pool absolutely beautiful which we did enjoy. The breakfast buffet was very good. The service was good and when we complained we were passed on to someone who said they would get back to us which they did. We had no extra charges so they handled it well. We spent our free time looking at a few different hotels in town to make sure there was no smells and to compare. We ended out with an oceanfront hotel with a fantastic view for less money and a better location. For the price and being a four star it was not what we expected.

Room Tip: We requested a view of the pool but was given a view of a rooftop. Try to get a pool view and a remolded room you may have better luck than us.
