“Lankayan island”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

Hi I am from New Zealand,

Originally my brother and I were wanting to go to turtle island in August but it is fully booked up.
Can anyone please help with how to book from Sandakan to Lankayan island and the price??
It looks like we will be able to see the turtles out here as well.

Thanks,

Kate.

“Paradise”
Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

Absolute paradise ,white sand, clear blue seas beautiful chalets on the beach.this was an amazing place and we saw a turtle laying her eggs .we did find out when we were there that the island is not recommended by the Foreign Office so our insurance wouldn't have been valid and we walked around Sandakan for an hour as we waited for our boat transfer.
Sandakan is the only town the foreign office say you must not go to.
So pleased we didn't know as the Island was a highlight of our holiday .

“Magnificent !”

Went to Lankayan for my 10th annivasary..informed the management on that..when arrived at sandakan, was ushered to the jetty for a 1hr30min speed bot ride..the ride itself was an adventure, water splashing all over..finally arriving at the resort, so beautiful, mesmerising..food was good, watching baby turtle released to open sea was even better..early morning trip back to sandakan was abit let off, mngt shud hv given till lunch for guest to enjoy the view..altho the costs bit steep, its worth experiencing it at least once in a lifetime..

“The ultimate island getaway”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

One of the best holidays I have ever had- Lankayan island takes a while to get to (1.5 hrs by boat from Sandakan) and isn't cheap, but it's worth every penny and more! Booked via Asia Diving Vacations which had th best rate and stayed 3D/2N with 2 friends and while this island had more of a couples resort feel to it, we all still felt completely comfortable and had such an amazing time just enjoying being in paradise! The water is amazing and although the coral is mostly dead straight off the beach, there were still plenty of different varieties of fish and the coral does get better as you swim outwards. The best thing about Lankayan is that they have a turtle conservation center on the island so you get to see baby turtles being released, and turtles laying eggs. There are also lots of turtles around the island so depending on your luck you will swim with one! We had one resident turtle who was always hanging around the beach in front of our villa so we were lucky enough to get to swim with him every day. The food is great, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had one sour receptionist but the rest of the staff were so amazing they overshadowed her. Tip: bring your own snorkel and fins to avoid paying around an extra 40 ringgit per day. No amenities sold on the island so make sure you pack your necessities. Can't recommend this island enough and I'll definitely be back one day!
