Stayed here for two nights before heading bush. Upon arrival the staff were always smiling and eager to help. Had a sea view room on floor 17, the view did not disappoint, watching the sunset from our room was incredible. They provided an extra bed with no problem since there were three of us. Marlan (I think was his name) on front desk was outstanding in helping us with activities around the town and gave us very accurate information. Overall this was an outstanding hotel, with wonderful rooms, buffet breakfasts, (best thing ever). Could honestly not fault it in any aspect. Thank you sheraton Sandakan.

Our first impressions of the hotel were impressive. The lobby is very modern and really well designed. Check in was friendly and very efficient and we appreciated the welcome drinks after our taxi ride from the airport.
Our room was again, very modern and had a fantastic view over the harbour and the Sulu Sea.
A nice comfy bed ensured a great nights sleep!
The infinity pool as, others have said is quite spectacular and worth going to at sunset for some great photos.
Breakfast was good and offered a varied selection. As its located on the same level as the pool it also provides great views over the Sulu sea which is great.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, especially the young bellboy who gave us some good information about the town.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone that is wishing to stay in Sandakan. Its surly the best that Sandakan has to offer!

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view.

We stayed for 3 nights during our tours in Sandakan. This is better than to stay any low condition hotel on the river. You can make daily trip from here to all destinations in Sandakan. The staffs were very friendly. Breakfast, bars, pools are 5 star condition.

A new hotel right on the Sulu Sea with a good view of either the sea of inland of the town. The rooms are clean, comfortable and everyting is new and working. Free intenet was great. Hotel has a nice pool and several restaurants. Only minus was the staff. They we very polite, but clearly not quite yet trained. Still, next trip to Sandakan i will stay here again.

Room Tip: The view of the city is actually better then the view of the Sulu Sea

I went for high tea at The Lobby Lounge with a couple of friends, and high expectation on food quality. However I was utterly disappointed on the food I was served.

We ordered a high tea set for two people. There were some fruit cakes, tarts, fruits, sandwiches and scones. The fruits were quite fresh, fruit cakes tasted a bit plain, something I could easily get with less than RM3 from the bakery outside the hotel. The tart pastry tasted uncooked, as if it's just been defrosted from the freezer. The scone was the worst, tasted like scone and we could hardly poke our forks through!!!!!!!!

We paid RM48 for this (including about RM6 service charge) and frankly, it was an absolute disappointment.

There was one positive side of it, the service was still OK for a four star hotel. It's just that I wouldn't be returning for this sort of food quality.

After checking out all Sandakan hotels on TripAdvisor, we selected Four Points because it looked good and offered rooms at attractive prices. And we were not disappointed. Our check-in procedure was fast and efficient, and the lady who took care of us answered all our initial questions with a smile. Oh, and we also got a refreshment during check-in. Our suitcases were swiftly brought to our room on the 15th floor, where we first saw the fantastic view over the pool area three floors below and over the vast harbor area. The room itself and the bathroom were both in the good order you expect when you stay at the Sheraton. Room service was very good during our one week stay.

A breakfast buffe was served at the Eatery restaurant on floor 13, which again offered spectacular sea views in two (other) directions. There was indeed a large selection of breakfast alternatives, including cooked-to-order omelettes and the like, freshly made fruit juices and an Indian food area. The staff was very pleasant to deal with and quickly responded to requests of ours. We particularly remember one young member of this staff (but unfortunately not his name), who was most polite and helpful. And one day when we happened to meet him on town, he also helped us find our bank - on his free time. This really is the true definition of the word "service minded".

We also have good things to say about the Concierge (Bell Boy) staff. Most helpful and nice to talk to. They helped us solve all problems, small as well as big ones, suggested restaurants and interesting places to visit. We particularly remember Mohammed, who helped us arrange a trip to a jungle lodge at Kinabatangang River, as well as our departure coach trip to KK. It felt safe to leave all that planning in your hands, Mohammed.

Finally, the pool a mind-boggling experience. Check photos of its edge towards the harbor, and you will know what we mean.

On the slightly negative side, the Internet connection is a bit poor, but we suspect that this is a general problem in Sandakan, rather than a hotel problem, but it still needs to be improved to become acceptable for IT age tourists. Also, Sheraton should provide good language education to ALL their personnel, since a few were not very good at English. To become more attractive for tourists, Sandakan needs to improve its seafront area, which occasionally smells very bad from sewage that goes right into the Sulu Sea. We hope that Four Points helps out there, it would certainly be in their interest to do so.
