This temple is large with a good view. However, the guide we had provided no history as to the hindu symbols that are part of this temple. It has a nice view of Sandakan.

As a Buddhist, I really enjoyed the ambience of this temple, the statues outside were impressive the golden figures inside were amazing.
It was stunningly hot on our visit nearly 40 degrees out on the temple forecourt good views over the harbour.
It is not worth a walk up the hill, get a taxi.
A good photo opportunity, it is beautiful but, once there, there is not anything to do except take some pictures.
There are several special occasions where Monks come to visit to celebrate Buddhist festivals it would be worth arriving when a festival is planned.

I was so excited to see this temple. It was excellent. It's worth going for the view & to see the beautiful décor of the temple.

I just came back from the temple, the views are amazing! The temple itself is also very nice with dragons wrapped around large columns, several Buddha statues and colorful offerings. We spent there around 1 hour enjoying the views and walking around the temple. I would say it is definitely worth seeing. You don’t even have to take a taxi to get there (which would cost you about 40 MYR). Instead, we just walked to the bus station and took a bus headed to Taman Mawar. We paid 1 MYR each and asked the person that collects the bus fare to drop us off at the Puu Jih Shih Temple. The bus will eventually go up the hill and leave you at the entrance of the road that leads to the temple. It takes less than a 10-minute walk from there. Most part of the road is flat, only the last 50 meters are uphill.
