Before I got here, I expected two dimensional pictures and descriptions inside an air-conditioned rooms. A Discovery Centre in Malaysia is normally not interactive and daft. To much my pleasant surprise, this Discovery Centre is the rainforest itself. The canopy walk here is not the road and wooden planks type that you may have used at Mulu Park in Sarawak but of the structural steel and tensile steel rope types that could accommodate more people. There are many viewing stations dotted among the rainforest and the whole purpose of that is to secretly "stalking" the birds of wonder here. And it didn't disappoint. During my two hours stint there, I witnessed the very rare bristlehead bird, sun bird, hornbill!!! It's truly an awesome experience and the ranger was just as excited as I was. It's been said that the best viewing time is in the morning in between 6 am to 10 am. The rainforest trail was simply awesome with a blend of sound made by insects and animals. Towards the end of the journey, you would go past a rather gravity defying hanging bridge, that swayed from side to side over a lake; definitely not the faint hearted. For those of you that are into local herbs and plants, you would get to witness the natural Viagra of Tongkat Ali, Kicap Fatimah in their natural glories. A definite visit should you are already at this neck of woods.
