We searched the internet extensively and emailed Pom Pom several times before we finally booked a 7 day and 6 night package. This seems to be a bit longer than most people stay but we were at the end of a great Borneo experience and wanted to treat ourselves. We were very lucky to get Beach Villa 16, which is right at the end of Pom Pom`s private beach. The villas are well spread out, all Balinise style, dark wood and white linen. The rooms which are built above the ground on stilts in the local style are cavernous, 6m x 8m, with a large shower room and a 3 m wide balcony. You get a tree shaded sandy area out front and in our case an almost private beach. I don’t know if we were just lucky (I guess a lot of people were off the island during the day diving) but we hardly saw anybody during the hot sunny days. The staff are friendly although a bit reserved at first. But after we got involved in a round the island beach clean-up with the staff they warmed to us and referred to us by name after that. The food is really good with lots of variety. It’s a shame that it's buffet style as they do themselves a miss-service. The quality of the place deserves a menu and waiter service. Alcohol is extra about £2.50 for a can of beer. But the location is paradise and I don’t normally say that. There is a natural white sandy beach around the perimeter of the island which you can walk in a leisurely 40 minutes. They do have an issue with debris collection on the beach from the adjacent islands and the mainland, but they are working hard to manage this with regular clean ups and then recycling the plastic which they collect. But the area in front of and directly adjacent to the resort is cleaned daily. We snorkelled around the end of the jetty and saw terrapins, bat fish, clown fish (think Nemo) and lots more I could not name. We witnessed a turtle laying its eggs on the beach one night which were then moved to the resort hatchery for safety. The place is expansive but it really is pretty close to paradise. A great experience and in our view worth the money
