Staying for a week on a former oil rig 30 minutes away from Sipadan island is already quite an experience, add to this the friendly and always helpfull staff (local & europeans), it makes your stay THE diving experience you will never forget.

Rig's rooms are quite basic but deliver all the confort you need when you stay here essentially for diving. Food varies from ok to nice, breakfast may need to be improved especially when diving Sipadan and waking-up @ 5h30AM.

I recommend the rig and will come back for sure !

Was there between 21 & 25 October. Glad that I picked Seaventures. Everything went smoothly, from the moment I sent in my enquiry to my drop off at the airport.
a. Room was basic but adequate. Most important of all, it was clean. Although the ensuite bathroom was a bit old, it was still functional and adequate.
b. Food was good with many choices and varieties. Refilling was fast too.
c. Quality of service by the staff was incrediably good. Better than many 4 & 5 star hotels that I have stayed. They were alway smiling, making guests feel very welcomed. They were also very helpful and quick to clear the table of emptied plates, cups etc etc., even on the Saturday night when it was packed.
d. Diving was fantastic! The dedication of the divemasters who look for and pointed out the rare marine lives, and dive crews who helped to carried everything, it was very relaxing.
e. Free WIFI was available making it bearable for people who need to keep in contact with the outside world.
In short, a divers paradise!

fantastic experienced local staff trained up by the rig over years means the diving experience is awesome. Recent improvements like even faster boats have made it even better. rooms are fairly basic but food and deck areas are great. By far the best value in the area. Sipadan & Mabul are a divers dream and the rig makes it easy, relaxing and affordable. - going when its quiet means you can go to Sipadan more often. unlimited unguided world class muck diving under the platform.

If you're thinking of booking this place then do, you will not regret it. We enjoyed every bit of our stay with Seaventures from the novelty of staying on an oil rig to the wonderful service and friendly staff! No comfort is lost here, the food is outstanding especially when you consider their location, the wi-fi is accessible from every corner of the rig and it's a super connection too believe it or not. The staff were there to greet us with big smiles when we arrived, they were at hand at all times to help us with anything we needed during our stay and they gave us a sweet farewell too! Can't forget we came here to dive, Seaventures did good there too! Their DM's have been working here for years and it shows in their knowledge and experience of the divesites and sealife! Our stay with them was too short and we hope we can return soon!

PS. the views from the rig are stunning!

Our 2nd time at Seaventures and again really enjoyable and great value for money. The dive rig is inescapably a blot on the tropical island landscape and is now painted in even more riotous colours than before, so I think it's much better to stay on it (fantastic views from what used to be the heli-pad), than stay on Mabul Island and have to look at it.

We payed a bit extra and stayed in the VIP/family room - well worth it for the extra space as the standard rooms are not big. There's quite a bit of trekking up and down stairs every day, but you need it to burn off the delicious meals and snacks that they keep throwing at you (they cater well for vegetarians). The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful - carried out running repairs on a broken wetsuit zip and my mask for us and picked up requests from Semporna as well.

The dive set up is great. The diving under the rig is very cool - a bit murky, but full of all sorts of interesting critters, from frogfish to a resident big grouper and turtles passing through, but of course Sipadan is where you want to go. The situation with permits seems to be getting tighter as we had only 2 days at Sipadan out of 4 at the rig, but did 3 excellent dives each trip out. We did a fairly average dive at Kapalai one day, but the other dives around Mabul Island and under the rig were really enjoyable with lots to see.
