Just returned from a two-week stay here for our honeymoon. Incredible! Fantastic staff, perfect location. Cannot recommend this enough. The best holiday ever!

This is a real treat. From the wooden house accommodation to the fact that you are staying right on the beach, next to the jungle and at the foot of an extinct volcano.

Dear Bagus Place, dear Anish, Krishna, Luke and others,

first of all please accept our deepest regrets for not writing this report for so long. We were so hugely impressed about Malaysia and your place in particular after coming back home that simply couldn't find enough words and courage to sit down and put it all into the web. Then usual working routine steadily took on and it wasn't until tonight that we finally found time to send you our best wishes and good luck properly .

In fact I still lack words to describe how wonderful Bagus was. We loved absolutely everything: accomodation, nature, food, atmospehere, the team, who made the stay absolutely unforgetable. Pier jumping, diving, night movie watching, poker, endless talks, fishing, water falls hiking, beach games and so on - I am sure Luke and Anish remember it good and keep on doing this job as perfectly as they used to a couple of months ago.

According to the calender a rainy season shall be slowly approaching Bagus now and soon this heaven on earth will go into its regular several months' sleep. We wish that Bagus would hibernate happily and wake up safe and sound to welcome the next guests in spring 2013. We also would like to wish every success and best luck to Anish&Krishna in their family life as well as new business projects.

We really hope to be able to see you all one day again and would definitely try our best to make this come true.

Best regards,
Pavel&Marina

Room Tip: Rumah Laut has a wonderful sea view and is detached from other appartments.

Had 3 nights here in August and had a fabulous time - totally chill out time, nothing to do but eat, sleep, relax, snorkel and watch the monkeys! We stayed in the tree house which was great - lovely to have the shutters open when sleeping - until the early morning wake up call by the monkeys landing on the roof. The food we loved it was good quality and enough of it. It is not totally luxury but the feeling is wonderful.

Good review from sincly: describes the place well. Bagus Place has a great personality, is very comfortable and clean if not 'luxurious', you feel v close to your beautiful surroundings, with lovely friendly staff. I had hoped there would be more of a beach - but as it's next to a coral reef, you need to swim off the jetty to avoid all the coral and, at low tide, the beach doesn't look particularly pretty - may be worth bearing in mind if you're looking for the perfect beach... But we loved our stay and it felt like a real escape from the rest of the world.

Ants, bugs, monkeys, sharks and an elusive turtle. Bagus Place Retreat is just that, a retreat. It is not a resort, the villas are like the best holiday house, not an air conditioned hotel. Sleep with the shutters open and enjoy the sound of the sea. We had mosquito nets but didn't use them. we didn't notice mozzies at all.
Bash the ants off the honey before you spread it on your toast and scare off the monkeys that sneak under the eaves of your villa. If this sounds too rustic for your liking don't book. To us it was a week of heaven, snorkelling, reading and enjoying delicious local food (not Michelin star gourmet, just tasty and plentiful).
I would perhaps bring your own snorkel and find if you always want the right size as there is sometimes a rush on the main sizes but that is a small thing. We always managed to get something. The snorkelling trip to Ringis is well worth it for fantastic shark spotting but there is plenty to see off the end of the jetty as well.
With welcoming hosts and wonderful staff (villas cleaned daily, with fresh towels-not hotel fluffy but who cares??) I couldn't recommend it more highly, unless of course you don't like bugs, monkeys and sharks. Perfect for me!
