“Good choice for a relaxed vacation”

Friendly, nice hotel close to the main village. Clean and comfortable rooms. The restaurant food is very good and can be recommended. Very helpful staff when it comes to arrange your own experience of the Island and surrounding waters.
Do not expect to enjoy the hotel poolbar, it seems not to been open for a long time.
Beaches on the west side of the Island is not as good as on the East side so don't miss to cross the Island and visit Juara Beach and Bushmans Little restaurant.

Room Tip: You won't get more value for Money choosing beachfront rooms.

I was travlling to this resort in march 2012 with a berjaya air package from singapore. This way you can reach Tioman in fastest (but not cheapest) way from singapore with just 40 min travel time. The resort itself is a bit on the old side, but still okay. Buffet is good-excellent, especially the BBQ. The rooms are clean, and there is a small island directly 100m off the beach that offers good snorkeling. They also offer snorkeling trips to further "coral island". Overall its not cheap, and the size of the place makes it sometimes necessary to use the "golf car" transportation that is offered (for free) from the ressort. They do the same in their other ressorts e.g. Langkawi. so if you want a quick escpae from singapore, without hours of transportation and decent comfort, this is a good choice. Some families with children are there, so its not always the quietest place.

The resort is very big, but the little buses of the resort can bring us around.
It is good hotel with simple connection to airport and main village. Transportation from/to airport is free of charge with opened shuttle bus (few times during day).
Nice swiming pool near the restaurants and another small pool near reception.
Nice beach, but for good snorkeling you have to swim (or better, go by boat) to nearby Renggis island.
Unfortunately internet is not available in rooms (available near pool and reception only). Often internet is very-very slow.
Excellent breakfast, but same every morning.

Room Tip: Choose room near swiming pool or with sea view

The resort has its own private beach and diving center. The restaurants are really good with scrumptious international food buffet. To make your nights romantic, there is a crazy band that plays every night right by the beach. And dont forget to try Shandy at their bar. Its exceptional! Not to forget they have two swimming pools placed right in the middle of the bar & beach. There are water slides and water bar as well.

Room Tip: Go for the superior deluxe near the pool !

Hotel is nice, but I think it has already seen it's better days. Hotel should do a little bit of renovating in rooms and places all around the resort. Overall our stay was nice. Hotel has nice and friendly staff, pool area and the beach is nice. Golf resort is okay, with a nice view. Breakfast was really good and food and drinks good also. I would recommend to go there when the season is on, so you have much better stay, snorkeling is easier, etc. Ferry ride is quite interesting on a windy weather, so fly if it's possible.

We stayed here for a week at the end of August 2013 (2adults & a 10 year old). It was great for all ages & we really enjoyed it here. It's in a beautiful, peaceful location with views of green mountains.

The resort stretches for a couple of hundred metres along the sea front. None of the rooms are far from the beach, but they can be far from some of the facilities such as the beach bar & reception. The rooms are mainly in 2 storey / 4 room blocks, quite well spaced & private. I think very few would have a bad view as they either overlook the sea or garden areas.

We booked a superior room but upgraded to a deluxe room on arrival for an extra 20GBP pn. We looked at both rooms....the superior room was fine but the deluxe gave us more space for an extra bed. Room was well appointed & comfortable with large bathroom & balcony.....no complaints.

The main pool & pool area are very nice but fairly small for a resort of this size. Added attraction of slides, jacuzzi & swim up bar. There is also a smaller, quiet pool near the reception which I never saw anyone use.

The food was very good here, in terms of quality, range & value. There is now only one main, open air restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch & dinner plus the indoor Coriander Seeds Indian / Thai restaurant for more upmarket evening dining. From previous comments / web info it looks like a couple of restaurants have closed. The main restaurant has a good choice of a la carte options plus good quality buffets at each meal. It also offers a steam boat option (bookable a day in advance) which is great; you get an enormous platter of meat, seafood, noodles & veg & cook it yourself on a little stove at your table. We had a very good experience at the Coriander Seeds restaurant too. It's also a very easy walk to the two local restaurants outside the resort gate (ok but not much cheaper then hotel food).

Lots of sunbeds by the beach with more space, shade & privacy than at the pool. The sea is lovely - warm, clear & very calm. The tide goes out a long way each day, so sometimes you can swim in deep water near the shore & other times you can wade out a long way & explore rock pools. The snorkelling is quite good even from the hotel shore, especially if you head out opposite the water sports cabin, the coral starts about 100 metres out & is best near the row of buoys. We snorkelled for a while with a large turtle beside the buoys.

It's important to time your snorkelling around the tides & it took us a couple of days to get it right. Tip: do not try to snorkel at low tide as you won't be able to get past the urchins as the water is too shallow to swim over them. When the tide is higher you swim out over sand for the first 50m or so, then you come to a rocky area with lots of urchins; you'll have a metre or so of water above them so you can swim straight over them; the coral then begins & the water gets much deeper so you don't have to worry about urchins then as they're far below you. It's absolutely fine as long as you know!

A couple of hundred metres from the shore is Renggis island & this is great for snorkelling, masses of diverse colourful fish & the coral is more varied here. You could swim or kayak over but you have to cross a busy boat channel so it's safer to take a boat from the dive centre. It's about 7GBP including equipment & only takes a couple of minutes; you just wave to them when you want picking up again. There are two floating pontoons here so less confident swimmers can have a rest.

In terms of other facilities, there's a gym, a games room & an air con wifi room plus footie & basketball at the far end of the resort towards the dive centre. My husband played golf & had the course to himself, & found it quite good value including clubs & buggy.

It's about a 30 minute hot & hilly walk to Tekek village.... The hotel shuttle meets planes & ferries 3 times a day & you can jump in if there is space. There's really not a lot to see or do in Tekek.

We stayed here during monsoon, so bear in mind that this will not be the same experience as someone staying during the high season!

We arrived on Tioman and it was easy to get a transfer to the resort. When we arrived we discussed accommodation options (as we hadn't booked before arrival). We decided that the standard chalet was fine for us. The chalets that are on the beach are closed during monsoon season, as the tide pushes the sand right into them! This didn't bother us, being a little further back. We had a nice standalone room, with a little bathroom, some comfortable chairs, a TV and chairs on the deck outside. The room was big enough for us. There aren't any safes in the rooms, however, there's a safe room at the reception (which is very secure - every one double locked, with one key held by us and one held by reception!). The only downside of the room was that the bed was very hard. This may be a drawback of staying in a standard chalet!

The resort was quiet, around 70 people only, due to the time of year. Although it rained, it only rained sporadically a couple of times a day, and only for short bursts. The temperature remained really nice and mild the whole time. The resort organises activities, such as snorkelling, trekking etc. As snorkelling wasn't available in the monsoon season, other activities such as cooking demonstrations were organised. We loved the cooking demos, and we got to eat the food! All of the chefs and restaurant staff were excellent. The breakfast was so-so, it's a shame, because we know the chefs can cook amazing Malay food, but there doesn't appear to be the demand for it at the resort. A warning, if you are allergic to cats this is not the island to come to. Lots of stray cats hanging around the resort, and also all over the island. There is an awesome restaurant out the front of the resort called Delima Seafood and Tomyam, and the food there was excellent and really budget friendly too! We also ate at the more upmarket Coriander restaurant, which served Indian and Thai. We picked Thai dishes and were quite happy with our meal. The resort has other restaurants but none were open due to it being low season. The pool was unheated so we used it rarely, and swam in the sea instead. At low tide, there are a lot of rocks and coral on the beach, some swimming shoes are recommended! The waves were a lot of fun to play in though. We enjoyed our trip, it was designed to be relaxing and it was! We stayed for NYE with about 20 of the other guests and were entertained by the band until we rang in midnight. There's isn't much to do on Tioman during the monsoon but we enjoyed ourselves!
