When we first arrived there was a glitch with a double booking but Mrs Kee and Gusman ensured all was fixed for us. Mrs Kee and Gusman are always so friendly, helpful, happy and funny. Breakfasts were quite basic but varied from day to day.
They helped with ideas of how to get the most out of our stay and one night Mrs Kee offered to make our group of six a Malaysian curry for dinner one night. It was delicious.

Rooms are basic but clean enough with nice bright bathrooms, comfy beds and aircon. We had rooms 1,2 & 3.
Great location on the beach, out of the village but a short stroll.

Room Tip: Room one is best there, or rooms 2 to 6.

I enjoyed my time here - after I got over the initial shock of how much rubbish there was on Genting beach. The little white chalets are set around a big piece of lawn - separated from each other so you don't hear your neighbours. The standard chalets don't have windows - just shutters, but they do have nice netting curtains that you can pull across the windows for privacy while getting fresh air. The staff are all very friendly. I feel that the lack of a chef is a problem - but if you walk to the pier or further along the path you will find plenty of places to eat. This is the best end of the beach to be staying at - away from the packed-in 'resorts' that fill up on weekends/holidays with locals on package tours.

Tioman island is perfect for just relaxing and enjoying your days. Our stay at Impiana Inn was the best experience on our trip so far, and here's why:
1) the staff were so friendly, they really made us feel at home after a very short time - they were very hospitable, it was like staying with friends. Thank you Aaron for always being busy organizing our snorkeling trips to P. Tulai (white sandy beach, tropical fish like I never saw before) and other small islands, and just for being a very nice guy.
2) Impiana is the best resort in genting, and genting is the best place to stay on tioman. don't expect much nightlife there, but we liked this little charming and tranquil village very much. Go to "Golden dish seafood restaurant" or have dinner at Impiana inn, the food was very good there, after having had some bad experiences in Malaysia before.
3) We met nice people there from the Netherlands, Siberia, New York
4) Thank you Ed, Chin, Aaron and all others, you were very friendly to us, after just three days on tioman we were sad to leave this wonderful place!

We planned for 4 days 3 nights on Tioman island. I stayed with my fiance at Impiana Inn for 3 days 2 nights.I booked for deluxe room- so called honeymoon suits, so this room would create a romantic ambiance as we came down to celebrate my fiance birthday.Room size is just right, clean but not well-maintained. Even after complaint, the veranda light has not changed ,thus we unable to enjoyed our night beach view with our drinks. It seems they only provide room service once per your stay even you stay is for 2 nights. We were so upset when got to know that they were enter our room without prior our knowledge when we were out for snorkels to replace new towels. As when questioned about it, they were said that we must placed our room key in advance if wanted to have room service. These are 2 contradict statement by Impianna staff. Either u give us room service or never!! Overall is average. Complimentary buffet breakfast is not so good because no choices in term of varieties.Free wifi available. The Impiana organised snorkeling day trip around the offshore reefs for us upon request, and its just O.K. Genting is an quiet and unhappening place, but if you want nightlife probably head elsewhere. For our third day stay, I booked Tunamaya beach & spa resorts as a birthday surprise treat for my fiance.

The rooms were clean with a/c and nice bathroom (unlike many of the more budget places on Tioman). The owners and manager Aaron were very extremely friendly and helped book a great snorkeling trip for 50 RM, although they should have mentioned that they only had mask and snorkels on the boat and not fins. Genting Beach is quiet and a great place for relaxing, but if you want nightlife probably head elsewhere. We spent the day exploring and climbing the rocks to the north and south and had huge swaths of beach to ourselves despite it being a weekend. Breakfast buffet was all right but dinner buffet was not worth the price. Definitely one of the better mid-range option for those who want a bit more comfort without staying at one of the really fancy resorts.

There is nothing overly special about the place, but it is friendly, quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast ist filling and caters to Europeans and Asians alike. There is a beautiful colonial style verandah with TV, books and internet. You can get good deals when booking via internet and if you extend your stay the owners will also recommend you book via internet. However, we struck a deal on arrival since it was low season. Genting is an extremely quiet and unhappening place. If you want more action, go to Selang or ABC beach. I was there with my daughter (7) and we were almost the only guests in Genting. We had all of the beaches to ourselves and enjoyed it. I highly recommend the batik-seminar (you'll find it easily upon arrival). Make sure you do it a least a day before departure in order to have all the dying and fixing completed.
The hotels can arrange snorkeling trips and you can also do your own jungle trecks. Amazingly the island has almost all of the flora fauna found on the mainland, so it is a compressed version of Taman Negara. You won't find western bagpackers with kids though, so make sure you enjoy entertaining them yourselves.
