During our visit to the Desa Lagoon Resort we found it quite deserted except for 2-3 families other than ourselves. We found it quite surprising knowing the travelling spree of the locals. However, it was a bliss for us, for we could enjoy the solitude. We spent only one night in the 3 bedroom deluxe cottage, just adjacent to the swimming pool. There are actually 2 pools; the other one is adjacent to the cafe. The rooms were clean and tidy although the kitchenette appeared to be in need of more attention; the refrigerator was also not properly cooling. There seemed to be a scarcity of maintenance staff given the sprawling resort area. However, the pools did not let us down, we did chill out and spent a good lot of time in the pool. The restaurant was a shock; it was little more than a dining room with an extended balcony and served with overpriced menu. This led us to take refuge in the flamboyant multicuisine restaurant hosted by the adjacent resort. The 100m walk along the beach was well worth since the food was well served. The resort would have been more charming had the rooms overlooked the sea.

The place is nice but their maintenance is terrible! We booked a 1 bedroom villa for 2 nites but checked out the next morn as we could not stand this place. This place was given a fresh coat of paint, it is now sky blue and the couch in the living hall has been changed. HOwever, it is very uncomfy, u can't lie down to watch TV. Although the hall is clean, they obviously missed out the other things like the window sills and gaps, which were filled with dust and lizard droppings (can't stand them!)...when I went in the bedroom one of the pillow has a lizard dropping on it - and the whole villa reaked of stale air. Shows that nobody stayed here for a while and nobody bothered airing the place properly. Window panes in the bathroom and the shower were filled with grime! Water in the bathroom came out brown! The kettle was all stained inside, so I did not use it to boil any water, bought mineral water instead! When we were there, there were only 2 families...we had our dinner at the restaurant, food was not fantastic, the burger we ordered cost RM12, and you would expect at least their home made beef patties, but instead they used Ramli patties! Breakfast was nothing to shout about, but it was not as bad as dinner...at least they gave us RM35 breakfast voucher. The place is indeed one of its kind, but they really need to buck up on the maintenance. I do not think I will go back to this place again unless they improve on their cleanliness.

we've been here more than 5 times i think.what i liked most is the building itself which is very mediterranean n yet it feels like home.the are 2 room units 1 room units n 3 room units too.only the 1 room unit doesnt have a kitchenette. There are 2 main blocks.there is a pool for each "block" or clusters of units.the units are built on shallow ponds and its fun n safe for children to watch the fishes swim whether from the balcony or the garden.even tho the beach is not a private one.imo it is the best stretch of white sand and clean water in pd .its clean and only 1 or 2 jetski n banana boats spedding around.there is a microwave oven in each kitchenette.there is a parking space for each unit right at the doorstop so its no worries if like me u have excess baggage.we dont know how to travel light.the restaurant offers western n local fare n is quite affordable.my kids love the pool as it is not too deep nor too shallow.even tho there is abig crowd it doesnt seem busy n i always feel a sense of calm when we r there.by the way this is a petronas owned resort. and they also have a spa now which im going to try on my next visit.

Desa Lagoon resort offers 1-to-3 bedroomed apartments, categorized under superior or deluxe. We opted for the 1-bedroom deluxe since all the superior units were full.

From the pictures of the resort, we expected it to be a higher end, exclusive resort; however, this was not the case. Once we recovered from the initial let-down though, we ended up having quite a pleasant stay.

Our apartment was fully air-conditioned, with a king-sized bed and a separate living room large enough for the kids to crash after spreading out the futon. The toilet/bathroom was spacious and comfortable, and even had a full-size bathtub. Standard room amenities were provided, with daily housekeeping.

The resort has two separate pools, one in the superior units cluster, and the other in the deluxe units cluster. Since the deluxe units were not fully occupied, we practically had the pool to ourselves for our 3-night stay. To be fair, this was also prob due to the fact that the deluxe pool required proper swimwear, instead of the t-shirt&pants combo. From what we could see, the superior pool was utilized all day long by holidaygoers!

The resort also has direct access to the beach, which is shared with two neighbouring resorts. Despite that, it wasn't crowded and passably clean.

There was only one option for inhouse dining ie the cafe. Our apartment rate came with food vouchers to be redeemed at said cafe. Prices of the ala carte are a bit steep considering the venue, but there were monthly specials at very reasonable rates. The food was surprisingly good, with authentic-tasting local dishes.

Overall, we'd recommend this resort if you were looking for something different, comfortable and not crowded. There are only 40 units of apartments here, and if you opt for the deluxe, then you don't feel as if you're part of the school hols crush.
