Staffed by French people it receives many western guests that want to stay a bit close to culture at home. Good price/quality but not very cheap. There are other options on this island that offer a comparable comfort for lower price.
French cuisine with great food. Each room is a small wooden bungalow with all that is required: bed, large enough bathroom, even in-room safe and of course mosquito-netting. And only 10 meters or so separated by a field full of palm trees from the paradise beach. Ideal for a great tropical holiday on this paradise island while staying in touch with food and culture at home. One of the hidden gems on this planet. Just as the whole island is.
Paying with credit card is an option IF you bring visa. Otherwise only cash. Please remember to bring either enough cash or a visa cc. Retrieving cash on this island without visa is quite a challenge. In case of emergency there is a western union where friends/family could sent cash.

The staff is happy to advise on things to see and do on the island and help organize excursions like for example diving or whale watching.

On the downside of the hotel, the location is a bit far away from everything. So a walk into town to find some restaurant in the evening is not really an option. There is not much transportation on the island. You can rent a scooter but driving it back from town in the evening is not comfortable as it's far, the road is especially in the end not very good and without lights. And the evening air on the road is full of mosquitoes. You might even catch malaria. So as long as you are happy with the restaurant and beach with beautiful palm trees and organize daily excursions including transportation there is little left to complain.

Looking through some reviews of 'gems' I've visited in the past I discovered La Crique. I visited there some 15 years ago and, judging by the pics from fellow reviewers it hasn't changed. Not one bit.
There was very little development on the island then so maybe we were lucky when we hired soem friendly locals to guide us to the other side of the island, where they prepared us lunch out on the reef, after we found some nice fellas who agreed to take us out in their canoes.
The absolute BEST part of that trip was walking back across the island, at dusk, to discover the skies above us full of fruit bats, out for the night. Truly amazing.
I've never had seafood like i had at La Crique, prepared from that morning's catch - I hope it's still the same. It;s a beautiful island, and a beautiful bay. We spent ten days at La Crique and it was absolutely wonderful. Go on, get yourself there.

Room Tip: They all face the sea. It's right there. So you're sorted.

we decided to stay in la crique after some hard investigation through guide books and over the internet and we haven't been disappointed. the beach is wonderful, the bungalows, though basic are clean and nice and located some 30 meters from the beach only. the place isn't very big, there are only (as far as i remember) 11 bungalows so expect no more than twenty guest around. for us, it was a perfect, relaxing start for our trip to madagascar. their manager, joseph, is both a very helpful guide and just a nice guy.

When me and my wife arrived on this little gem off a island called Sainte Marie we new we arrived in parasdise. There is just no words to discribe the beuaty of the place.

Le Crique hotel is little bit rustic but with all the amenities you could ask for.

There is not a better setting for a hotel in the world and that include Maurituis.

At the northern part at Le Cocketeria we spend the day on a beach kilometers long and we were the only people barring 4 others.

If you want peace for your soul and the quitnes of a remote tropical island this is the place.
