As a budget traveler, I try to keep it below $30 USD per night. However, I had trouble locating affordable places to stay in such a touristy place. The Hotel le Badamier came up on my radar as one of the more affordable places, but still a bit expensive for me at $40 USD per night for a single room.
That all said, it is extremely worth the money as the difference between le Badamier and, say, a $20 hotel is far more than twice the value. Beautiful and clean rooms, hot showers, wifi, and AIR CONDITIONING (!) are all luxuries that I am not used to, and which all come together to make Hotel le Badamier a great place to stay.
While I can't comment on location (I was just passing through), taxis are always cheap. The area felt safe, and the hotel is certainly well-guarded. Secure doors and lockable safes round out the safety aspect.
There is a restaurant in the lobby (serves only breakfast, I believe) and other establishments nearby. The staff are EXTREMELY friendly and quickly replied to an email reservation in english. All of the staff were very good at speaking english.
Finally, checkout is at noon (like most hotels) but I wasn't being picked up until 4pm. The staff was very kind to happily let me stay in the lobby while I waited.
i would definitely stay there again!
