Stayed here for 3 nights on flying package, hotel is literally 1 minute from airstrip. Have done several safaris in Kenya and this has one of the best waterholes, lots going on both day and night. Viewing could be done from dining tables or spacious veranda. All rooms have view of the water hole and were spacious and comfy.More

We have been several times to Kilaguni serena lodge, for the business, with family and with friends and we have never been dissapointed. The landscape is breathtaking, animals can be see from the balcony, the rooms, the bar and the restaurant all day and all night as they come to the waterhole. The staff is very friendly and the rangers very professional. A must is the Lion rock breakfast and the sun downer.
An excursion to the Mzima springs makes one truly experience some African vibes.

We were blown away with the views from this hotel. Both the restaurant and lobby area as well as our rooms had a view of the water holes and this gave us the opportunity not only to enjoy Kilimanjaro and the glorious African scenery, but also to watch a large range of animals coming and going to and from the waterhole. We watched large families of elephants, buffalo, gazelles, giraffe and hyena to name a few and it was a spectacular sight. Watching the drama of the hyenas approaching and the other animals who were protecting their babies was better than any nature TV show - and it was live! To be honest, I could have stayed sitting on the terrace and watch all day. The staff were knowledgable and friendly and always eager to explain and give commentary on the scenes below us. They even offer a wake up call with a difference - if an animal you want to see comes to the waterhole during the night they will call you so you can come and see it. Sadly our choices (leopard and lion) did not visit one our one night at the hotel, but what a fabulous idea! This is a beautiful hotel with lovely grounds and beautiful rooms. The food was satisfactory but we stayed during low season and there were only a few other guests so the food choices were somewhat limited. However, the service was excellent in the restaurant and the staff were always attentive. My only let down was that the rooms were incredibly hot. Admittedly we were there just before the rains and the temperatures do get very hot but there is no AC and the ceiling fan is not positioned over the bed so was not effective at keeping us cool. It would be better if they could offer guests another fan to help circulate the air as we slept very badly. Guests should also note that there are no room safes. Despite these two negative points I would still rate this hotel 5 stars as the experience offered to guests of staying overlooking a water hole and service were wonderful.

My wife and I stayed here for one night while on safari. Really nice place with beautiful gardens and surroundings. Quality all the way. Rooms are clean and nice with a balcony view overlooking the hills and watering hole. Restaurant food very good. View from restaurant is fantastic, with elephants, zebras, buffalos, giraffes coming for a drink at night under your view while you eat. Magical! Came out to balcony at midnight and saw an elephant wandering near my room! Staff all professional and courteous.

We stayed one night here while on safari. The view from our room and deck was gorgeous. We didn’t see too many animals at the water hole in the evening but it was peaceful and the view was amazing.
The room was spacious and comfortable with a very large ensuite bathroom.
The decor in the lodge was rustic and amazing. The buffet was average in comparison to the other lodges we stayed. Staff were not as friendly as other lodges.

We arrived via train and were picked up by Geoffrey who was our guide and driver for the few days we were there. The lodge is only about half an hour drive from the station, plus a stop to buy park passes. Geoffrey was a lovely man and a really great guide. We were traveling with an 18month old, so not your usual safari goers, but he was happy to adapt itineraries to suit.
The lodge itself is beautiful with amazing views. We had connecting rooms which were stylish and comfortable. We didn’t have a direct view of the water hole, but still had elephants opposite our room one night! The food was great, the veranda bar was a lovely place to sit and have a drink, and the staff were all so accommodating and friendly. We even managed a little time by the pool, which was a treat!
I was slightly concerned about taking my young child on safari, but the staff at Kilaguni made it a wonderful experience for all of us. She got so much attention from them all, loved running around the lodge and playing in the pool. And she slept amazingly well in her car seat in the safari car, meaning we even got some quite good safari experiences!
I’d definitely recommend Kilaguni - thanks to everyone for helping make our trip to Kenya such a great one.
