We spent 1 night at this lodge and it was by far the best of the lodges we stayed in Amboseli, Tsavo West and Tsavo East. It was also the most expensive. The rooms are good with views over the plains and the bathrooms are modern and spacious. I was too scared to open the balcony doors as they warned us about the baboons and we were quite close one of the watering holes. The food is great with a lot of choice and very fresh. The communal dining hall overlooks 2 watering holes and in the evening we watch a lot of elephants come and take a drink. I wished we could have stayed longer and intend to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms near the dining hall will have good views of the watering holes.

Oh I love this place. This is our second visit to Kilaguni Serena and the place has just outdone itself with more warmth, more love and more care. During our last visit, we stayed in the Suit, however this time we had taken the standard rooms and were a bit dubious about the comfort but oh man, even the standard rooms are as good as suits of any other hotel, if not better.

The staff as always was extremely caring and ready to help. The waterhole had something or the other to offer at any given point of time. Infact we even cracked a joke that we shouldn't wasted any time with game drives because even sitting and watching the waterhole from the restaurant area we saw Elephants, Thomsan's Gazelle, Impalas, Ostriches, Waterbucks, Hyenas, Warthogs, fringe eared oryx, dozen of other species and most importantly, A LEOPARD. Yes, the leopards come to the waterhole like almost every night.

Would love to go there again & again because the place is always full of surprises.

Room Tip: Go for rooms 16 - 20 as they give you an awesome view to the waterhole. Try and come back from your...

My husband and I just got back from Africa. We spent 18 days there. During this visit we spent the night of Aug.6 and Aug.7 2013 at the Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge. The staff was delightful. They were friendly and helpful. We especially loved Daniel. The room was pleasant with a private outdoor patio. There were interesting birds, lizards, and animals on the grounds. The view from the dining room was straight out of a movie. It was so perfect it didn't seem real, but it was. The mountains, the waterhole, the animals coming and going were enough to cause one to sit and stare with awe. I'll never forget this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Room Tip: Room had great patio.

We had a great time staying here for one night as part of a 3 day safari. The location is absolutely amazing. From the restaurant and room balconies you look out onto a watering hole which is frequented by many animals and an evening routine of zebra, antelope, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and lion drinking from the waterhole which is directly in front of you - fabulous viewing. The rooms are delightful and bathrooms lovely with wonderful white fluffy towels. Would highly recommend.

My breath was taken away when we walked into the reception of this lodge. The views are out of this world and no photo can capture and do justice to the incredible sight that met our eyes.
I was lucky to be part of a great group of ten people who really made the holiday - Thankyou!
Check in was quick and efficient and we got a cold flannel and refreshing drink.
The rooms were really lovely (kuoni know how to look after their clients) and had views to die for. They had bath robes, toiletries, mozzie spray and coil, mozzie wipes and bottled water.
Coffee, tea and cake was available in the bar area. This was much needed before the early morning game drives. You could sit and watch the comings and goings of the animals at the water hole, as well as admire Kilimanjaro, before you hunted for more wildlife in the bush. The baboon babies are a delight to watch and the busy guinea fowl cannot be taken seriously. ( thanks Hannah for that phrase!)
The grounds are lovely- there are beautiful butterflies, gorgeous bougainvillea, as well as numerous lovely lizards.
In the evening, during dinner, we had many visitors to the waterhole. It was if each group of animal had its own time slot. (Like tickets at a deli counter) We saw lots of elephants, several of which came snacking at the vegetation next to the dining area. You'll get some amazing photographs, but it's great just to sit and watch quietly. We were lucky to see a leopard one night. It stood right under one of the flood lights.
Don't expect to get much sleep as the elephants were quite noisy and so were the hyenas. I was up and down; up and down when I heard something and looked at the water hole. ( which I could see from my room window) I was scared to miss anything, but at the same time not wanting to be too tired for the game drives the following day. Expect to be buzzing from what you' ve experienced, as well as being in eager anticipation for what lies ahead- not the best recipe for a good nights sleep.
Enjoy your stay. It's a privilege and I feel very lucky to have been here.
