Its Wild..... Beautiful.. If you go either a long weekend or a stop over to or from Mombasa. You would need two nights there baring in mind that it is self catering but there are cooks and staff to help..

We took a short overnight trip to Tsavo from our hotel in Mombassa and it was worth the drive on the "highway". Stunning scenery and we were even "charged" by a huge female elephant. Guess she didn't like us taking photos of the young ones....Reminder to us that they are wild animals and it is there home, not ours....

I just returned from Africa. Kenya, specifically. Was there from March 14th until April 10th. Did the Mara, Tsavo, Amboseli, Mombasa, Nairobi and Naivaisha. Seriously like 5 trips in one. Best experience of my life. Tsavo was on of my favourite parks. Rented the Komboyo Guest House. An entire house to yourself....which is beautiful....AND your own watering hole to sit and watch all of the animals come within feet of you at night and in the morning. I travelled with Visit Africa Ltd. BEST company ever to travel with. Their driver, Sammy, was SO knowledgeable....knew the parks inside and out and was able to spot animals as though he had some serious visual superpowers! ha! Saw the big 5 before noon on our FIRST safari....and we were the first to find the leopard (which is very VERY rare to spot).....Sammy found it and got there before anyone else did because he knows the parks inside and out. He used to be a ranger. Anyway....we were treated like family. Car we had was SUPER comfortable....Land Cruiser...and trust me..you want a comfortable ride on these long and sometimes very bumpy trips! The company itself was hugely accomodating, loved every single place we stayed at and seriously could not have asked for better treatment or a better trip. I highly recommend them. If you're speaking to Heather or Lewis....tell them that Lianne from Canada referred you to them!

While this is the main reason to come there are many other animals to see.
We saw three other antelopes / deers we had not seen in africa before. We drove down in our car (bigger car would have been better to see the animals) on our way out we must have seen around 200 - 300 elephants walking down to the river all covered in the red dust of the area.
