Lakira Camp
Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is a review for Camp Lakira, which is also owned by Flamingo Hill tented camp and located right on the banks of Lake Nakuru. Unfortunately, Lakira does not have its own listing (probably because it has no presence online). I visited the camp with my family for 2 nights this past summer and wasn't able to pull up a single review other than those I found on this page, but was game to try something new. It was a simply unbelievable experience. This is a luxury tented camp with only 6 tents, so the service is unsurpassed. We had breakfast and dinner at the camp, and the food was the best we had on the entire safari trip. Bbq meats, lovely salads, very nice chicken dishes, breakfast made to order. Nothing was too much trouble for the guys running this camp, and in the evenings we had fireside stories from the masaii warrior about the traditions and culture of his tribe. In the morning, hippos were to be seen gliding across the water, and the sunset was simply unreal. The tents themselves were better than those we had experienced at Masaii Mara and even Ol Tukai Lodge at Amboseli. Large and quaint, with antique furniture, the place has a real charm about it. Would recommend to anyone who is absolutely looking to get away from the touristy experience and simply immerse themselves in nature.

Room Tip: All tents are lakeside.

I Stayed for only one night at this place, the camp is quite basic but yes its intimate. The lake seems like very close and its quite bushy with bushes all around.
The dining area is fairly small but i guess it would be ok for only 6-8 cottages that they have.
The staff is very good and hospitable they try and ensure that you are comfortable. The resident Masai is a jovial guy.
The place looked like a bit rundown.
The tents are just basic.
Food is just Ok.
The scariest part was that even in high season the place was empty we(me and my wife) were the only guests
There is no value for money coz what they charge is much less than what they deliver.

Lakira Camp is the best value and intimate camp at Lake Nakuru National Park. Lakira Camp is the best value and intimate camp at Lake Nakuru National Park. The tents are large airy spinkled with a dash of romance, the bathrooms bush deluxe. This is the paradise where guests can walk outside their tents in the their own seemingly private wilderness in classic bush style, where spreading canvas, soft cushions, exotic cocktails, the twinkle of lanterns and the soft melody of the bush seduces the traveler filling their soul with the finest sights and sounds of Africa.

Room Tip: All rooms face the lake and offer unrivalled views
