“"Glamping" with the Bedouin - T E Lawrence country”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

We stayed one night in April
Very comfortable and clean facility
Staff we're very helpful
We did one excursion "desert run" you get to visit the T E Lawrence camp
Kids rode camels
Food was adequate
Late night Oud music was fantastic

The 4x4 vehicles were open trucks, should be more safer with seat belts.

Room Tip: Book a VIP room, has all the mod cons

This is large camp site which can accommodate up to 150 people. The night we spent in this camp, there approximately 130 patrons. There were 2 types of tent, standard white tent and the VIP black tent. The latter came with ensuite bathroom and its inside temperature was hotter and oppressive during the day than the standard tent. Staffs were friendly. Whilst we were here, there was a visiting entourage of not so famous (according to one of the guides) Lebanese artist and the party went on till 10:30 pm. What was sad was that they never stopped singing and partying or pay respect of silence when Isha prayer time was observed. Not against partying but please pay respect to local custom esp. when you know you are in a Muslim land. The stay in this camp came with the complimentary 2-hour 4WD drive to see several of the amazing geologic structures and viewpoints. It was stated that Lawrence of Arabia also spent some of his time here in Wadi Rum during WW1. If we were to do this again, we would choose a smaller camp site as we prefer a more private setting rather than big scale commercially operated one the Rahayeb. Sunset in Wadi Rum is one of the most beautiful sights in the desert. For dinner, we were treated to meats cooked in the underground oven which was tasty but breakfast was an average affair.

I stayed with a large group for 2 nights. The setting is fantastic, the accommodation was comfortable, facilities were good (toilets and showers were clean enough, you don't expect 5-star quality but this was enough to feel clean), the outdoor area was very nice, the staff were a lot of fun. My friends and I had a great time, and would definitely recommend this camp!

This camp is the way to stay in a desert. The VIP tents have the bathroom inside and it's all worth it. Our room had a comfortable queen size bed and night stands. The bathroom had a decent size. The food served for dinner was delicious. Chicken and lamb with local style rice and different salads and desserts. Next day breakfast was just as good. The staff were friendly and courteous. There is not much to do so this gives time for hiking, reading, playing cards (bring your own) or just relaxing. If previously scheduled with your travel agency, there are short trips to near by sites and camel rides. The sunsets and mountain views are amazing.
It gets pretty dark at night so it's recommended to bring a flash light to use after camps lights are turned off.

Room Tip: VIP tents have the bathrooms inside and highly recommended.

This was a very relaxing, clean and comfortable space in Wadi Rum. We opted for a larger tent with ensuite bathroom, which I would recommend - although it may take away from the "authenticity" of the camp experience. It was very cozy and quiet, and the mattress was comfortable.

Our hosts were incredibly kind, and the community meals served every day were large and varied - even for a vegetarian like me, there was no shortage of options.

We traveled during the winter (December) and although the days in the desert are warm, it is absolutely bone-chillingly freezing at night - so make sure to ask for extra blankets.

Our only issue was missing a bus the morning we were due to depart - but the camp employee helped us chase down another one, so needless to say, the service went above and beyond after we had checked out.

Would definitely stay there again!

We were 2 couples of friends on tour in Jordan and have spent one night in Rahayeb Camp, chosen by our tour operator. The location is excellent: the camp is located in the desert and surrounded by very nice mountains. At 9 pm the light is cut off and then you have a very silent night. Beds were good and we had a very good sleep. Take the breakfast outside with the morning light is a very good moment.
The very negative point is that in our 2 tents with bathroom the bed covers used by previous guests were not changed ... We had to discuss with the manager in order to get some clean one, which we finally got.

Room Tip: At your arrival, check immediately if the bed sheets are clean!

We have just spent one night at the Rahayeb camp. We loved it from start to finish. We stayed in a VIP tent, it was so cosy and quiet. This camp is better than the others as it is not near the road and in a beautiful location under the mountains. The staff are friendly and helpful. We did a 3 hour jeep tour which was great fun, had tea with the Bedouins in the desert. We went for a walk at night and the sky is so clear and its amazing to look at the stars. We watched the sun set and the sun rise. The bed at the camp was really comfortable and we slept well. The food was AMAZING, I have never tasted lamb or chicken like it, they cook it underground and its so tasty and served with lots of salad, potatoes, rice and veg. We went for an early morning camel ride which was a nice way to start the day. I would definitely recommend this camp as the others were not so deep in the desert and this was so quiet and peaceful. This has been one of the highlights of our visit to Jordan and we have been here for 2 weeks. The Wadi Rum Desert is a must and so it Rahayeb Camp for the experience. Thank you for giving us these brilliant memories to take home.

Room Tip: Get a VIP tent, they have showers and toilets
