Hesitating between 3 and 4* based on my experience... will go with 4 as staff was friendly and welcoming, but I'd like to point out a few things for the benefits of future travelers:
- Large camp: up to 25 tents/50 people; luckily for us, it was far from full when we visited, but would probably choose a smaller camp in non COVID times as this could turn into a "tourist factory" very easily. Liked that they used solar power, so no noisy generator. Note they are adding ~5 new luxury houses (concrete, not traditional tent style) with private bathrooms - personally not a fan of that, but will leave everyone to make up their own mind
- Huge tent for dining, with tables by the side, sitting on some kinds of built-in benches by the wall (surprisingly no chair anywhere in the camp), leaving a lot of space in the middle, which felt very, very weird; would suggest using round tables and chairs, which would make it easier to communicate with other travelers
- Very comfortable camp: good bed, shared bathrooms (no hot water though during our stay, but plans to fix)
- Day activities: good overall, but not as comprehensive as I'd had hoped (hiking day is ~3h of hiking; Jeep tour skipped a few sights mentioned in the program, which could have been covered by shortening the lunch break); also, guides could provide more information on the sites seen, and stay close to the group at all times (vs. hiking ahead of us, on the hiking day)
Good experience overall - Wadi Rum is magical! - but some room for improvement and things to consider on the size/amenities of the camp, based on your personal preferences...
