“Return visit - even more amazing”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Visited Bedouin Directions last April enjoying the Sandstorm jeep tour and an overnight stay. Unfortunately we did not have more time in April... therefore in October came back for a 3 night stay and booked: 1 day hiking, 1 day camel, 1 day jeep tour. Well in practice we did not stick to this plan at all and this was no problem at all for Bedouin Directions. This visit we even experienced the real bedouin life, visited a very happy couple living in the desert, still in a tent..., besides a tea, we even had a dinner with them. Sorry Bedouin Directions... your Zarb dinner is very delicious and a great experience too....
After dinner we loved the bedouin dances, in particular the Ha-Hia dance, I believe the oldest Bedouin dance danced by the men.
Pity we did not have a proper sunset in Wadi Rum. Back in April there was a sandstorm (cause we choose the 'Sandstorm jeep tour'?), this time we even had a bit of rain, thunder and the sky was not clear at the time of the sunset... Let's see when we can be back.. as we have to be back again... once again we have to admit this place is magic. The best place to be..
Tip: If you wake up early go up yourself on the rocks near the camp to see the sunrise...
Bedouin Directions is not commercial a huge camp, no electricity, not situated in the area where most camps are, it is surrounded by rocks which makes the stargazing even more special. According to me: the best direction to go in Wadi Rum is Bedouin Directions

The camel trek in late afternoon/evening was a memory I'll never forget. The jeep tour the next morning was also awesome! Our hosts were very nice and cooked a fantastic meal. The ONLY thing that I had a hard time with was the cold shower and not being prepared with my own towels. Otherwise, WONDERFUL!

Room Tip: *I'd suggest bringing your own towels or wipes if you plan to shower while there. Otherwise, jus...

We agonised about which tour company to use, and chose Mehedi and his guys based on Tripadvisor reviews and his instant, verbose response to our info request.

The whole stay and tour with them was very personalised and tuned to our requirements (we even had to change our plan halfway through in order to meet some friends, all no problem) and they really care about making sure you enjoy yourselves.

Camel Trek - very recommended, it's such a fun way to see the sights
Burdah Arch Hike - ignore what they say, it's a challenge and pretty dangerous so good if you want to stretch yourself. Don't even consider it without proper footwear (hiking boots etc)
Jeep Tour - we did a half day, it was plenty
Lawrence Spring - ok as a stop for tea, not worth a detour

Careful that there are lots of places you're encouraged to stop and take tea for a few JD's a time; we rarely stopped in order to keep going - it was no issue.

Many thanks to Mehedi and team!

Room Tip: it's a bedouin camp, don't expect luxury :) The rooms are very good though, very thick duvet...

We arrived late at the Wadi Rum about 11a.m. but Mehedi tuned the tour excellently by covering the required sites. Our guide & driver Syed was extremely friendly with my two children (7 & 5) and very helpful throughout the journey. He played with my children, played music, helped us in taking photos, assisted in climbing the rock bridge and explaining about the places. Lunch (Zarb) was an amazing experience & highly recommended. I'm back home but my family is still craving for their food, the rice was awesome! chicken & others dishes was abundant & delicious. The whole experience in Wadi Rum was made amazing by Bedouin Directions! Surely you guys will be blessed abundantly.

What an amazing stay we had here. Traveled with my two brothers and their families including children. We book in advance through the website. We just had a day unfortunately. We arrived in the afternoon and had our half a day jeep tour which was the most amazing time of up our lives. Audiee our driver that evening was very good and took us to the right spots, when it came to climbing a spectacular arch in the desert he was very encouraging and helped us all up. And when it was time for the sunset he took us to a hillock, and I'm not kidding it was the best sunset we ever saw and we we were just mesmerised.
The off we went ot eh camp which is well protected by rocks all around hence isn't very windy. The mattresses were comfortable but no bedding or towels, so if you are particular about it hen come prepared. The communal tent had some tea for all and then some great live Bedouin music followed some superb food . The toilet facilities were very basic but clean( maybe some improvement needed ). And they had a shower facility which we didn't use.
The night was moonlit so we had a great desert walk at night, make sure you keep note of landmarks etc or its easy to get lost after a while.

The next day morning we went for an hours camel ride in the desert after breakfast and we were dropped off at the village.
Mehdi, the guy in charge is very good and trustworthy. I would recommend not trying haggling etc as is the norm in the country as he took it personally and offered the trip free after one of us queried the cost after being instigated by our taxi driver ( seems like their personal rivalry).
Feel I should go back there and hopefully will do sometime. It's quite safe for someone to travel on their own too.

Room Tip: Specify who you have in your group and what configuration you want to sleep in and they will accommo...

We enjoyed a night with Mehedi's camp at Bedouin Directions. The camp was small, personal and the food very good. The guides were plentiful, helpful and respectful. The one area that could be improved was the lack of more-fluent English-speaking guides. They all had very basic language skills but unable to give much information on what we were looking at. If you are booking here - read up in advance or take a good guide book. That apart, we would thoroughly recommend the camp. We passed some horrible camps on our tour and were very glad to be where we were.

There are many reasons to book your next trip to Jordan, but the main reason can be to visit the Bedoein Directions camp in Wadi Rum. We have had an extraordinary experience from beginning till end. We loved the location of the camp, the food, the autheniticity the place still enbraces and more then anything... the people of the camp.
You will have an overwhelming experience day in day out, with unlimited views of the Wadi Rum. With the most pleasant guides of the camp, you will enjoy every minute of your stay!
Bedoein Direction, I hope to be back very soon!
