This is a new restaurant on top of the Visitor's Center on the edge of the Ramon Crater (Maktesh) in Mitzpe Ramon. The interior is very nice but, the place to be is out on the terrace which overlooks the entire carter. Best of all, is to come around sunset to view the changing colors as the sun fades, evening and then night ascend. All I can say is WOW! If you have a significant other, this is a really romantic place.
Of course all of that would not matter so much if the food were not good. Not to worry, it is very good. Since I was alone, I did not order an appetizer, although they looked good. Of course, since this is an Israeli restaurant, I didn't need an appetizer. My friendly and efficient waitress brought the requisite Israeli assortment of tasty small dishes to start along with a carafe of cold water with lemon and fresh mint in it. How refreshing! Along with the small dishes there was a basket of warm fluffy pita and a delicious flat-bread.
There is a good selection of main courses. I chose something a little different. It was a large chicken breast stuffed with meat over rice. It sounded odd but I decided why not something different when traveling. It turned out to be an excellent choice and delicious combination. The chicken breast was cooked perfectly so that it was not dried out and the meat was spiced just right.
This was a lovely evening with a spectacular view and great food. When back in Mitzpe Ramon I will certainly be back here for another great meal and evening.
