“nice ride”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

The trip down the crater is short and if you don't want to go too far there's a nice path for a small hike just as the rode levels off. You can do it all in 30-45 minutes. There are also numerous hiking trails into and through the crater for the more adventerous.

“Ramon crater in Mizpah Ramon”
Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

Don't miss the chance to hire a jeep, or get your own all-terrain vehicle, and enjoy this natural, but rare, site. Plan on spending hours driving across, climbing and photographing. Go early, before it gets too hot, and take plenty of water. Use sunblock. This was part of the old Spice Road. And when not driving at the bottom, you can walk along the ridge, and go out onto a man-made ledge. Visit the visitor center and learn about the Israeli astronaut Ramon, who lost his life in the Columbia disaster. Watch the movie on his life

“Well worth the journey, you must go!”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

SO much more impressive than any of us were expecting. I hate early mornings but the 5am wake up was well worth it to see sunrise over the crater. We then walked around the (ghost) town and went up to the visitors centre which is well worth a visit, and the entrance fee.

“Great hiking and scenery”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

In my late 50's, female, hiked down into the crater today and not too difficult at all. Started on the promenade near the camel lookout and followed green and white markers (which are every few metres and clearly painted on rocks). The views were spectacular and with lots of photo, sun bathing and drink stops, took around 4 hours to reach the main road that runs through the crater towards Eilat, though you can do it much more quickly. Hitched a lift back up to Mitzpe Ramon. Hints: wear good hiking boots because the rocks are slippery and loose in places and of course take plenty of water, hat and sun tan cream. Might have been February but weather beautiful, great time to walk.

“A Great Hike”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

If you love to hike. If you love history. This is the place for you. It's not a hard hike down into the crater but it is a hike. Warm months bring plenty of water... more than you think.
