“The Alpaca Farm Is A Must-See Visit”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

Going to the Alpaca Farm was a highlight of my trip to southern Israel. Naomi, the owner, couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming. After letting me spend some time with the alpacas and llamas (they're very friendly, walk right up to you and make the cutest whistling/hooting sounds), she set me up for a two-hour horseback ride with my guide, Daniel. The ride, the scenery and the conversation were all spectacular--gorgeous sunset views of the desert and the Maktesh. We even got to see a Bedouin shepherd with an enormous flock of sheep. As for the ride itself, Daniel is very careful to gear the ride to the ability of the rider (safety first!). Since I'm pretty experienced, we interspersed walks and trots with some get-your-heart-going canters. All very exciting. But even if you've never ridden before, no problem; they'll take you at a nice leisurely pace, and you still get to enjoy all the beauty of the Negev on horseback. So if you're ever visiting this part of Israel, make sure to put Alpaca Farm on your itinerary--you'll love it!

What a fun afternoon. The cost is nothing, the owners are charming, the cacti are unbelievable, but nothing compares to the animals! Alpaca, goats, llamas, miniature horses, all wander freely. All are gentle and want to be petted. The owners give you small bags of food so you can hand feed the various animals. We laughed like children!

“Great Experience”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Since the weather wasn't all that great when we were in Mitspe Ramon, we didn't hike around the crater. However, the alpaca farm was a beautiful alternative with very nice staff and a lot of funny alpacas. If you have the chance go there!
