“Has to be seen, but not much to see...”

Reviewed October 25, 2013

While it is unique in its kind and has to be seen, in reality the temple is small and crowded and the information limited. It is a pity there is not a better museum of history and descriptions of yazidi faith and history

This is a very special place of pilgrimage for people of the Zoroastrian faith but for some tourists it might not be very interesting to just see a small fire burning behind a glass window. Nonetheless it is fairly near downtown Yazd and easy to visit with a taxi.

Though the building that houses the eternal fire does not have historic appeal, it is quite pretty with a pool in front of the building. The poster displays inside the temple gave a good account of this religious belief which is suppose to date back to the 3rd or 4th century. An eye opener for us.

I was in Yazd March 2013 with the family.
The hotel was close to the temple so that we could drive there less than 3 minutes.
I tried three times to visit the place but every time shocked by the queue line outside the temple. It is hard to spend more than 2 hour just for entering the place.
And I decided to enjoy my time instead of wasting it in the lines.

If you're in Yazd go and visit the temple.. There's the Holy Flame inside. It's really beautiful in summer!
