Two months ago, I booked a tour via email with Kintamani Tour (www.kintamanitour.com) on New Year's Day to climb Mount Batur for sunrise trekking. One would have thought they being from Bali, they would know what the traffic is like on New Year's Day, because after all, you're paying for their local expertise. Furthermore given it was booked 2 months in advance via email, one would think they'd understand what "booking" means.
Turns out, Kintamani Tour did not understand what traffic was like in Bali on New Year's Day nor understand what a booking means. Instead, they called my place of stay (instead of emailing me directly like they had previously) an hour before I was supposed to climb to cancel my trip because the traffic was expected to be bad. Complete incompetence since if traffic was going to be bad, they should be able to compensate for that in advance given their local knowledge since they've known for years how it is. Which they apparently completely lacked. Or tell me in advance that they could not do the trip when I made the booking because of the traffic so I could have made alternative arrangements in advance. As a result of their incompetence, it completely ruined my day as I had gone to bed early which meant I missed much of the New Year's Eve celebrations which were quite spectacular in Bali. Also ruined my sleep as I woke up in the middle of the night for nothing. Not mention it also meant there was no way at such short notice to make alternative arrangements to climb Mt Batur, especially since it was during peak holiday season.
Forget the well designed website, you will be severely disappointed. This is not a serious tour operator that wants to do business.
In a way, I'm grateful they cancelled since based on their lack of knowledge of Bali, the tour probably would have been a complete disaster.
