“Service is Not 3-Star Hotel Material”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2014

I have experienced much better service at 2 star hotels. There was no acknowledgment from the staff (one receptionist and one "security" officer)-no smiles, no one to hold doors, the bell boy was only seen once and did not help guests, and the staff did not speak English. We were charged 200.000 VND to rent gear mopeds, then told that they were out and given automatics with the promise of "no extra charge" after returning the mopeds they tried to charge 300.000 bc it was automatic (price of rental also fluctuated with different staff members so it can be assumed that they pocket the money). Rental was BY DAY not by hour so the 8 hours spent on sleeping and not on the moped is wasted. When asked if they could cut us a deal on a half-day rental, the receptionist was stubborn and actually ignored us by attending to incoming guests and charged the full day price of 200.000VND. Our new, checked-in room had a full trash can and the shower leaked, the doors did not completed closed.
Aside from an unfriendly staff the hotel is in a nice location and clean.

This hotel is at the back beach which I think is much better than the front beach. I was there on a weekday and was surprised to see that there are very few tourists in Vung Tau and mainly Vietnamese. The back beach was quite clean. We stayed in the sea view room and it was great as the hotel was right infront of the beach (across the road). We like the breakfast spread which has a few Vietnamese food that we have not tried before. But a pity that it ends at 9am so we missed breakfast on the first morning. I would go back to this hotel if I am back in Vung tau!

I really like the sea view room that we have booked. Bai Sau (Back Beach) is a quiet beach that provides the tranquillity for any urban people the escape that one desire. We walked about 30-45mins from the hotel to front beach to see the sunset. Walking pass the residential estate allow us to see more of how the locals live. There were many hair salons.
The hotel location is only 15mins walk to the Jesus Statue place. Do remember to go into the statue to view from the balcony at the shoulder which is able to view the entire city. We only realised the balcony when we have left the statue. At night(ard 8pm), we can only find street push-cart stalls selling grilled cuttle fish. Great that the hotel restaurant was able to cook us dinner and bring over to our room and that chicken burger taste delicious. Staff were able to help us to book coach back to Saigon with the telephone number that we have provided. Cleanliness of Hotel was acceptable.

Room Tip: Sea view room !

I stayed in this hotel for one night, room was small but good enough. The hotel is facing the crowded beach with several street seafood. The staff need more training for customer service, they refused to provide second key card for the room with two persons.

Romeliess Hotel reminds me of those days in Nha Trang when you could grab a great Ocean View hotel for $20. Deluxe Double or Twin Room with Sea View has a close view of the action on the street below, and about 30m beyond that is the ocean. The photos don't show you how close the beach feels to the room. For Vietnam, the road is very quiet. Its 10.20pm, and the stall vendors are still over the road selling fresh seafood. Everybody is smiling in Vung Tau, and its probably such a relief for visitors from Saigon to get to the beach.

My sheets are spotless, bed is medium hard, but not too hard. Bathroom is not tired. It's not the Hilton, but the hotel is not old, so its not falling apart. (Not yet)

The girls at reception have limited English, but enough to answer some basic questions. Remember its not rudeness for Vietnamese to turn away, just shyness about language.

Just a hint. There are two beach clubs about 15 mins walk away. One is 200,000VND (Has infinite pool) and one is 80,000 VND.

I preferred to pay extra to use these facilities, than pay an extra $50 per night for an international hotel with a pool. Also, the prices were cheap for beer (USD$1-2) and you could walk onto the beach.

Room Tip: Deluxe Double or Twin Room with Sea View would be the minimum.

I wanted to post a review after having read a number of reviews that gave many comments on the quality of the beach. This is a review of the hotel, the beach is neither part of the hotel's premises nor part of the hotel's responsibility for upkeep; besides this, it must be noted most beaches close to large conurbations, particularly in developing countries tend to be sub-standard; so this should come as no major surprise. Vung Tau could never be for its industry or proximity to Saigon a Nha Trang or a Phu Quoc.

One of the things I liked about the hotel was the fact the sea and waves were visible from my window. As someone who has grown up on the coast, it was a pleasure to travel to Vung Tau from HCM just to see the seaside. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful and professional. I would say the only issue I had with the room was that the window pane was a little loose in the window; as a consequence, during the strong winds it tended to rattle quite noisily. After pointing this out to housekeeping the matter was corrected immediately and the noise was muted.

One minor drawback is the breakfast which seems to cater only for Vietnamese taste. I would have liked to have seen a little more appetizing breakfast options on this front. However, the breakfast room itself does come with an entrancing view of the sea - one redeemable respite

Overall, for its location, I think the hotel makes a very affordable location. While it is not smacking distance from the bus station (who would want to be in that part of town) it is a short bike ride from the meandering coastline further on to the immediate south. There are a number of pleasant restaurants nearby, mostly serving fish and seafood options, as would be expected for a coastal resort.

An average hotel, not overly clean. However it is adequate for one night. We ask about dinner and found out the restaurant was closed however they gave a great recommendation at Lan Rung which was a 10 minute walk around the point.

Hotel can you send updating and cleaning of windows
