Lucy's Sports Bar and Hotel
Reviewed May 9, 2013

You literally walk off the Hydrofoil and cross the road to Lucy's Sports Bar. Professionally run bar with friendly bar staff who remember your drinks so that by the time you sit down they're bringing you your ice cold beers complete with beer cooler wrapped around it. No wonder the Aussies and the Kiwis love the place. You can order your generous sized breakfasts inside in the airconditioning or outside on the deck in the natural air of the morning. Views are great across the bay of the coming and going of various boats.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms facing the water are good value.

I stayed a Lucy's for four days after checking out of a motel in back beach. This place is great. Coolest beer you can find, friendliest staff and the best location, across from ferry terminal. Inside in cold ac and outside is great for sitting and looking out to the sea. You can get the best tours here from war veterans who know there stuff. They donate money to build schools and visiting some of the schools Is part of the tour. If you want to tour the area Australians occupied in the war come and get these guys to take you.. Everyone here is very friendly and happy to help out.
The rooms have great views and are so clean and the beds are not 2" foam mattress.. I extending my stay longer so I can attend anzac day at long tan which is organised thru the guys at the bar3

Great place. Great location great staff Sam one in a million. Best hotel owner i have ever met. Her passion for her job and the way she looks after her guests is second to none. The rooms are immaculate with fantastic sea views Only down side probably would be the bar area Could do with a no smoking policy especially when people are eating food. There seems to be a small handful of elderly Aussie guys use the place each day as a meeting point to smoke & reminisce and try live their youth again some even have pony tails. Lol. Lol. But overall would highly recommend Food is very good. Can not state highly enough how clean the bedrooms are and how well they maintained. But what made our stay was the highly respected owner Sam. She is a wonderful person and a great ambassidor for any company. 10 out of 10. Thank you Sam We will be back to see you.

We stayed at Lucy's and had a great time. Able to walk to everything and the staff were extra helpful and friendly. Well done to KJ and Sam & Ernie. With so much to do in and around Vung Tau Lucy's was a great base to recover in after sightseeing with a relaxing beer and a quiet chat. Would strongly recommend Lucy's to any one looking for a great place to stay.

Convieniently located across the road from the ferry terminal, Lucy's Sports Bar & Hotel does not disappoint. Walking in from the street you will get a friendly greeting and find a nice air conditioned interior area with 4 big screens showing sports from Australia and the world. Pool table, darts and the friendly service will keep you entertained. There is a very lazy outdoor area with an amazing view across the harbour to watch the hours tick by with a cold beer. Most bottled beers are about $1 Aussie dollar.

The chef must be a magician because every meal we had was amazing and kept us coming back for more. The street food in Vietnam is second to none, but when you want a taste of home the vast menu will not disappoint. The Philly Cheese Steak baguette is my favourite.

Lucy's is run by KJ an ex-pat Aussie who knows exactly what you want during your visit to Vung Tau. Just ask the friendly staff for anything and they will try to accommodate your needs as best they can.

Lucy's Bar has a very strong association with the 'Vung Tau Veterans and Friends Children's Fund - VTVFCF' who are a completely not for profit organisation. For a very modest fee you can experience tours around the local area led by an Australian guide with intimate knowledge of the area and local history. You can even hand feed monkeys with fruit if you want!

ALL proceeds of the tours are generously donated to the VTVFCF. I can personally recommend doing the Battlefield tour to Nui Dat, The Horseshoe, Long Hai's and the famous Long Tan Memorial. Another very good tour is to the places the VTVFCF support around the area and to see for yourself where the money raised is utilised. Just ask at the bar for a contact and they can organise a tour for you.

I've been back here twice now and will definitely return again. Highly recommend staying here for at least a few days.

We stopped here a few times while in Vung Tau. We sat outside. It offered great views of the water and people watching. Service was friendly. The food was great. Also convenient location across the street from the ferry.

I dropped in there quite a few times & it was great. The staff are so nice & the food is great. I'll be back in Vung Tau in March & think I'll stay there this time. It's really just across the road from the ferry back to Saigon, so very handy. Very impressed.
