It was a mistake from the beginning to the end. We shouldn't stayed there, but when by accident we went to Tam Coc to look for hotels instead of staying in Ninh Binh, it seemed to be the best choice in the area. The hotel area with a close access to Tam Coc itself and beautiful village surroundings was the only best thing about this place.
The room we got was descent and big enough, but a bathroom wasn't ok at all. We were promised to use AC as a heater as it was cold outside, but finally it wasn't working and although we asked for repair or room change we got nothing. Cleanliness is not what they take care about - there was a lot of dead cockroaches on the stairs and nobody was interested in removing them. Anyway we were so stupid that we decided to stay there for two nights.
On the second evening there was a situation when they offered us a pizza for dinner in their restaurant downstairs (quite expensive for the Vietnamese standards), and when we refused and ordered some vietnamese food we got a lot of bones and raw parts of chicken instead real dishes so finally we bought these pizzas and paid… twice.
But the worst situation happened on the last day, when we wanted to leave. But the worst situation happened on the last day, when we wanted to leave. The lady convinced us to arrange a tourist "open bus" telling us that it would be more convenient for us to take it because then we would be taken directly to Old Quarter area instead of going by regular bus and leaving us at a bus station. We were told that the open bus we'll leave at 3pm, so we decided to stay until then in Tam Coc (not in the hotel, because although they were empty, they refused us to keep our room longer). At 3pm we were told that the bus will be at 3.30 pm, at 3.30 pm there was no bus at all and we started to be nervous because we had our train from Hanoi in the evening so we were afraid if we would be able to catch it. They told us, that for sure there will be bus at 4 pm, because it "sometimes happens" and later we got no more explanations so we were sitting and had no idea what to do because it started to be too late to catch a taxi to Ninh Binh, then to look for a bus and then be left at the bus station and be able to be on time on the train station. At 4.30pm finally… we were taken to a minibus full of tourists coming back from an organized one day trip from Hanoi and we were expected to seat on these uncomfortable small seats in the middle of the car for…. 6 USD for the 2 hours ride which is ridiculously expensive in Vietnam. So we refused and asked our money back (the real "open bus" is a big tourist bus where there are seats for all of the passengers) and had to find another option.
Not recommended at all as they are just cheaters.More
