Rather than dealing with any of the numerous women annoying tourists with cries of 'you want boat?' we booked our tour through CanTho Tours across the street from the giant statue of Uncle Ho. Very pleased we did. We were met outside the tour office by our guide, the lovely Linh Tran who then took us to our boat. The boat would have carried up to ten people but we were lucky to have it to ourselves. We pootled along up the main waterway for at least 30 minutes where we stopped briefly to have a look at the wholesale floating market. We then continued on for another hour or so to the smaller and much more interesting retail floating market. On the way back we again stopped and enjoyed fresh sweet pineapple.
The sights were interesting enough but I think I would have been bored stupid if not for our wonderful guide. She was great fun and we shared lots of chatter and laughter throughout the morning. Do ask for Linh to be your guide if you decide to use this company.

It was beautiful and colorful. The boats with the faces to move away the demons are really nice. You can buy fresh fruits, coconut water, etc.

After a 30 minute boat ride from Can Tho in the early morning, we arrived at the floating market where we saw locals trading goods from the large boats on which they live. They erect a pole like an antenna and rip they attach examples of ther produce to the pole to advertise their goods. We boarded a boat selling pineapples and the seller cut up a fresh juicy pineapple for us to eat on the spot. On the return trip, our tour guide diverted us to a bustling local market where we saw locals selling all kinds of different and interesting fresh produce. Overall, we found this trip fun and interesting.

This is the part of the Mekong Delta tour I was looking forward to the most. I like the bustle of markets anyway and add in the fact it's entirely on water..I'M IN!

Your're thrown right into it, so much going on, people selling all sorts but a lot of fruit! You've gotta be quick sometimes because the boats will pass you by. I'ts very lively and transactions happen all over the place right by you.

I thought it was great!

We wake up early, at around 5:00AM to see the life in the floating market. Many tropical fruits (mango, bananas, papaya, pineapple, etc.), vegetables are selling on boats. Many larger sized boats and smaller boats to and out. Very bustle. Sellers do not have to cry out their goods because buyer can see their goods in a distance and their cries would not be heard in the noise of boat engines. This is one of the most interesting experiences i have ever had in Viet Nam. Do not miss it when you visit the Southern Viet Nam.
