“Wonderful small hotel”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

We have just spent two nights at the Nam Bo and wish that it could have been longer. It was one of the best hotel experiences that we have had during a month spent travelling through Vietnam. We were given suite 8 on the corner, with three small balconies overlooking the river and the esplanade and street below, it was fantastic, quite the best suite for a couple. It was imaginatively and beautifully furnished, the only slight downside being the uncomfortable small bench sofa, and there were nice additional touches such as both a teapot and a cafetiere with the accompanying tea and coffee to use. The personal attention from the staff was great, any request responded to with great alacrity and charm. The room was quiet at night, once the street below was empty and it was easy to sleep well.
We had lunch and dinner both nights at the restaurant on the roof above, managing to try out all three of the best tables along the edge overlooking the river. The food was superb, some of the very best that we had in Vietnam (although we did only from the Vietnamese menu) and, again, the service was friendly and very attentive.
The breakfast was, without a doubt, quite the best that we had in Vietnam, not least because it was the only one that was not buffet! We were treated to a spread of wonderful breads, cakes, fresh fruit, yoghurt, the best freshly squeezed fruit juice that we tasted, hot food cooked to order and cafetiere after cafetiere of fresh coffee. All this on the roof with the breeze and bougainvillea and the views over the river.
We would certainly stay again at the Nam Bo and do not hesitate to recommend it to other travellers.

Room Tip: Suite 8 for the best views

We've spent 1 night in a nice suite with harbor view. The room is on the back, no view but very quiet. The suite was big and nice. The hotel is very well located on the harbor.

The top-floor restaurant is superb, with a small terrace and a very nice view. The Vietnamese food was excellent, but the top-floor restaurant serve mainly French dishes, unlike the 1st floor restaurant. Those were quite expensive and not really worth the price. The price is probably due to the imported ingredients more than by the way they are cooked.

We stayed in room 8 and what luxury after three tour biking the Mekong Delta! Reception was very friendly with fresh lime juice during the check-in process and the "welcome drink" vouchers (a simple and brilliant gesture!) for the rooftop restaurant. The room was very clean and well decorated, and the balcony was brilliant. Complimentary green tea that was wonderful was also provided! Comfortable bed and pillows...
Regarding to the noise from the restaurant above that a another guest commented on, I didn't hear it as I slept with earplugs, but my husband commented on the noise too, however he mentioned it didn't greatly affect his sleep, but was still annoying. So it might be worth something the management sort out soon...
And regarding the bed making rackety noise which was also mentioned by the same guest, we did not experience this at all, so maybe it was adjusted by the staff?

We don't have any complaints for this hotel. It was a lovely place to stay and we would definitely stay here again!!

Room Tip: room 8 is choice!

We stayed in Room 5 for one night during our travels in Vietnam. This was the nicest hotel of our trip.

The room was great, with a very well appointed bedroom, and living area. All very spacious and clean. We were offered a free welcome cocktail that evening in the charming rooftop bar - which we took up before heading out to a local restuaurant.
As it is such a small hotel, the staff are very attentive and friendly.

The breakfast, served on the roof terrace, was easily the best we had while in Vietnam. It is not your standard buffet, you order and they bring it out to you. Therefore leave plenty of time for breakfast to avoid clock-watching as they bring out each dish. The food just keeps coming!

Would definately recommend staying here.

We only had one night in this excelllent hotel . There are only 7 suites and no4 was truly delightful. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms have dayroom areas which is really welcome for the breaks between trips. The decor was stunning, very oriental with tremendous attention to detail in the little things like the quality of tea and coffee provided. The roof top resturant views acrossthe park and the river are lovely and the service very attentive, friendly and professional as we found through out Vietnam. The Escalier resturant served an excellent menu with a good mix af Asian and French cuisine beautifully presented.
We loved Can Tho as it is still very unspoilt and certainly plan to return there on future trips to Vietnam

Room Tip: The corner rooms are well worth the extra

The location was great and we had a corner suite with balcony on the 3rd floor highest hotel floor . Our room was room 8 overlooking the boat ramp quay and watching the street/ food stalls at night was very entertaining.. The room was clean and new.
As our room was the floor below the french restaurant on the fourth floor we had to endure the staff moving all the furniture indoors when the restaurant closed at night and at 5am yet again It was unbelievably noisy the restaurant staff made no consideration for the room guests. The bed in our room was a wrought/ cast iron bed that made an awful racket when you got in or out or rolled over. Surely the staff noticed this when they made the bed as even a slight move made a noise or when they bought it The other rooms had different furniture .Thus we left Can tho very weary amd the noise was unacceptable and thus have to rate it as poor as hotels are for sleeping. Room 8 was our room.

We stayed one night here as part of our private tour. The connecting suites were perfect for our family of 4, with a lovely lounge area. The location was perfect, right in the centre of things but quiet in the room. We enjoyed our free cocktails at the roof restaurant which has great views of the river and thoroughfare - which was lovely on Christmas eve. We highly recommend this hotel.
