“Beautiful hotel in Mekong Delta”
Reviewed July 21, 2010

Spent one night at this lovely hotel while on a Mekong Delta Tour Had a lovely suite room overlooking the pool. The room even came with lovely little gifts like rice, tea, rice wine and a conical hat which my son loved. We thought that was a great touch. Very thoughtful. My only complaint was that the beds were a bit hard.

Staff were great, only stopped one night but the shuttle boat to the centre was a nice touch and was a great way to arrive in the centre. Hotel had a nice pool but was redecorating restaurant. Rooms were nice with big rooms and nice balconies. There was a very large amount of Ghecco's but obviously they are totally harmless and interesting to look at. Not one wall was the same. Nice bar area to relax and free internet use whenever required. It proved a good base to visit the floating market.

This hotel is made in old colony style. Very beautiful and elegant. It was very quiet, only a few other guests were visiting. It is situated a little outside of Can Tho bur the hotel has a shuttle boat service, so it is no problem to visit the city.
It is a plus if you like geckos because they are everywhere even in the restaurants in the city.

Shame on me...being a short-sited American, my historical knowledge of Vietnam begins in the 1960's and pretty much ends in 1975. But the French put their cultural mark on Vietnam long before that, and it remains. This is an older, but beautiful and well maintained resort, with a definitive Vietnamese feel, and a underlying French touch. The building is French colonial, as is the decor. The restaurant menu is 80% Asian/Vietnamese, and 20% French, and that 20% ROCKS! Baggettes, crab bisque, homemade pasta, wonderful aioli, a good French wine menu. A very nice counterpoint to all the other Asian dishes.
Staff were very attentive, and polite. Several of our group were disappointed in the hotel spa. Apparently, the staff could use some direction as to the differences between east and west standards for modesty and privacy during massages. Although with the insanely reasonable prices they didn't complain too loudly...
Beautiful gardens, grounds, and pool. GREAT air-conditioning (trust me...you will need it), firm beds, good quality linens. Water taxi to city center was fun and interesting.
Don't believe what you read that tipping service people will offend ... it was greatly
appreciated and I believe, very much needed.

I stayed here with my sister for 3 nights The front desk people are always ready to help and the private boat to pick you up from the main town is great. The pool is really nice and sitting around is very relaxing. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Did a trip on the Mekong and was taken around by a uni student who had great english which was organised by Victoria hotel. Would stay again and again. Very good service. Thanks

Stayed here just last month on a one night stopover in the Mekong Delta. Great hotel, great pool, the spa is excellent as is the service. The little boat they have to run you to the center of Can Tho is a breeze.

A nice escape.

The Victoria was a one night stopover for us on a three day cycling tour around The Mekong Delta. As such our views of it are a little impressionistic. - but overwhelmingly positive.

The hotel is situated a half mile's water taxi ride away from the waterfront of central Can Tho. The hotel has its own boat which zips backwards and forwards throughout the day and into the evening.

The hotel itself is colonial styled and is very airy and open. The rooms are beautiful and the facilities are first class. The hotel pool is a little bit small but lovely nonetheless. I used the hotel gym which is extremely small and has no air conditioning (that I could find) . Not great for a serious gym fiend - but good enough for me!

We were on a special inclusive deal at the hotel so are not able to comment on the pricing/value. I have a feeling that the drinks at the bar were considerably more expensive than at our hotel in Saigon.

TheVictoria offered a relaxing antidote to the heat and bustle of Can Tho and The Delta and allowed us to relax and tend to our cycling bruises in peace. We had spent the previous evening in very rudimentary al fresco accommodation in a mangrove swamp on the river that was as far re,moved from the serenity of The Victoria as you could imagine (especially as there was a power outage and no light, hot water etc). To arrive at The Victoria was life enhancing for this tired cyclist!
