We have just returned from a splendid tour of Vietnam staying at various hotels. On 28th February it was my wifes birthday and on that day we had booked a suite at Victoria Can Tho. On arrival we were greeted with a cold towel and a fruit cocktail and the check in was performed by smart, polite front of house staff. We were excorted to the suite and our bags had already been placed inside. The room was massive, spotlessly clean and well equiped. Fragrant flowers and an assortment of fresh fruit on the lounge table. What a wonderful welcome we thought, but it was to get better. On the dresser in the bedroom cards wishing her a happy birthday, and welcoming us to the hotel, plus various gifts had been placed.Lynn my wife was overcome with the generosity and thoughtfulness. Happy birthday darling i said but this was just the start.
In the evening we made our way to the restaurant and took a table outside. We dined that evening on beautiful well presented food with wonderful service. The piece de resistance of the meal was the presentation of a cake for Lynn and the waitress lighting the candles, plus a bouquet of assorted colour roses. When we thought that was it for another year Raymond the hotels general manager came over to have a chat and to wish Lynn happy birthday
The hotel pulled out all stops to make the day memorable for us, and for that we will sing their praises .
We also spoke to various other travellers that day ,all of which spoke highly of the hotel. We found it a clean, value for money well run hotel ,in wonderfull surroundings, and would not hesitate to return for another visit if we travel to Vietnam again.

We stayed at this hotel in February of 2008. The rooms were extremely large, in need of renovation and the air-conditioning was extremely noisy. We had a southwestern view, which overlooked a construction site. Our request for a change of rooms was denied even though the hotel was only partially full. The bathroom had cracked and dirty tiles and grout was falling off the walls in the shower area. Food prices were very high.

Had a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel - really 2 nights would have been enough as unless you are planning to day trip into Cambodia using the hotel jet boat there isn't that much to see in the area. Hotel pool is very nice, the food served was first class and not expensive. Lovely having fresh fruit in your room every day. G.J. Dalziel - New Zealand

After being disappointed in the Victoria Chau Doc, we were a little aprehensive about this hotel.

We were wrong. This is a very good hotel. We had booked the suite and it's beautiful room. It came equipped with a very big bathroom (including 2 sinks, always useful when travelling as a couple!) a nice plush bed and pillows and complimentary gifts that were a nice touch.

The a la carte items we had for dinner were good and the breakfast buffet was very good.

The staff is nice and professional.

The gardens and pool are beautiful but the view of the river is average only. The sound of motor boats is less than in Chau Doc but still a little on the annoying side.

Overall, this is a very good hotel that we strongly recommend... and try the suite, it's worth it.

A wonderful place to stay and very handy for all the local tours.Very good breakfast, warm pool.We ate in at night due to the very poor selection of resteraunts in town,by local standards was expensive but very good,$60 for two with wine. Can Tho is a dump.Transfers to Saigon are by speedboat (3hrs) @$10 or express mini bus @$5 (4hrs+).Cannot recommend road travel,it is hairy and full of danger. Both will pick you up from hotel by feeder car.We arranged this with the hotel.

Second night of 3 day tour of Mekong and have already commented on the first night at Chau Doc, so was pleasently surprised when we booked into the Victoria Can Tho. Again a delux river view room, which was acceptable. Bathroom was much improved, although fairly small. Spent a couple of hours by the pool on very comfortable beds with huge towels supplied and good pool service.

In the evening we took the hotels shuttle boat to Can Tho which was very handy. Some sort of singing contest was going on in the town and I have to say the standard was pretty awful but that may be my lack of appreciation for Vietnemese music.

Great meak at restaurany Mekong on street that runs along the river, again recommended from the Rough Guide. Try the salt and pepper squid it was superb. Bill came to £6.00 including beers and loads of food.

Caught the shuttle boat back to the hotel at 10.pm and early to bed as we had to be on the road for 0730. I can only presume that all the tours started at that time as breakfast was a bit of a scrum, go about 0730 to miss the crowds. Breakfast again was much improved from Chau Doc.

Loved the Mekong tour and would definately recommend it. I booked on line with a company called TNK.

a nice hotel in a good location, but a little dated. the facilties are old world, but unfortunately so is some of the decor.

the management assure me that will be rectified in the next year or so, but we will wait and see. however, if we were back in the area we would stay again

worth a visit, clean and tidy, but dont expect 5 star accommodation.
